Midnight (A Phillidosia Story

Chapter Three

PHILIP'S POV       

The Hamilton house was warm and cheerful on this gray and rainy March day. Philip was bored though, his mother was knitting in her chair by the fire listening to a book of fairy tales read by his six year old sister Angelica. His youngest brother James was taking a nap and his other brother, Alex was playing with a wooden top on the rug. His father was in his office working as usual and Philip as sitting by the window and wishing that it wasn't so miserable outside, 

 He was supposed to meet Theo in the park today but it was so gray and wet. It was one of those days where its not really raining but, its to wet to be mist. His mother said she wouldn't go out today because of the wind and the baby kicking. His father had to work so Philip had one more option. He walked to the kitchen where their maid Hattie was covering bread dough and asked sweetly 

" Hattie could we go to the store? 

"Why  Philip I do need more yeast, but why would you want to go out on such a gray day?

" I'm tired of listening to mother and Angie read girly stuff".

That wasn't a lie not really, and it made Hattie laugh. "All right Philip go and get your coat and tell your mother your going to the store to help me bring back some bits and pieces I need for dinner".

So Philp got his coat, told his mother where he was going and skipped of with Hattie. When they reached the store Hattie told him to wait for her and as soon as she was gone Philip headed for the park. Theo was there wrapped in her red cloak and waiting for him. They walked and talked for a while Theo asked him 

"Do you want to be friends?" 

"Sure" said Philip

"Really?" "Oh great I've never had a best friend before"

"Well now you do" said Philip "Want some chocolate" 

"Sure" said Theo with a smile "I can't believe your my best friend now I don't even know your last name". 

"Its Hamilton" said Philip passing her another chocolate Theo's face fell.

"Oh no she said "Oh no, Oh no, Oh no" She started to run.

"Wait! Theo what's wrong"

 She turned and stopped 

"My last name is Burr" she said.
