blanca's pov
Days passed. Still not fully believing in what I've recently found out, I've been counting down the days till September 1st. And finally, after a whole month of impatient waiting, it came.
"Careful with that owl, John! Come here, Ella", my mom was more energetic than ever. When we finally managed to put all the stuff in the car, we set off.*some time later*
"Bye, sweetheart! We will miss you so much!"
"Bye, mom, dad! Bye Ella!" I was already in the compartment, sitting next to the window.
"Remember to pay attention during classes! Have fun and don't get in trouble!" I barely heard what my mom was trying to say because of the train noises that were extremely loud.
"And don't go into the Forbidden Forest!"
"Don't worry mom, I won't get— what dad?"
Both me and my mom looked at my dad, confused. Only my mom had a terrified and furious look on her face.
"JOHN!"
"Forbidden Forest? Cool!" Ella gasped. "Mommy, can I go?"
The train set off. My family waved to me and a second later, their faces were gone. I moved my eyes to my compartment. It was quite big, several people could fit in here. Only if there was someone to keep me company...
"Hi, do you mind if we join you?"
I looked up to see a pretty girl with brown eyes and wavy hair, similar to mine, standing in the doorway. She seemed very confident.
"Of course not", I smiled, so she sat next to me. She was followed by two boys her age, both looking a bit shy. They took the opposite seats .
"I'm Hermione Granger", the girl said, shaking my hand.
"I'm Ron Weasley", the red haired boy introduced himself.
"I'm Harry. Harry Potter"
"Potter?" I looked a bit surprised "I think I've read about you in one of schoolbooks! You're the one who defeated that wizard, Voldemort, right?"
He smiled shyly and nodded. The other two, looked at me with disbelief.
"You— you said the word..."
"I'm sorry, have I done something wrong?" I didn't understand what they were talking about. They started explaining to me but then I realised that I ought to tell them a bit about myself first.
"...A month ago I received a letter, four years too late I guess. That's how I found out that my dad is a wizard as well and my mom is a muggle, if that's how you call nonmagicians. I also have a younger sister. That's why I don't know much about your world", I looked down, feeling ashamed.
"Our world", Hermione smiled, "Besides, I come from a muggle family and I don't have any trouble with school!"
I looked at Harry and Ron, who smiled as they agreed with everything she said."I'm sure you'll need a tutor and I can help you there."
"Are you really that good?" I asked with disbelief.
"She's the BEST in EVERYTHING" Ron nearly shouted. I could see Hermione blush a little.*several hours later*
We were already walking to the castle. I must say, I was impressed by the view. Lights coming from the rooms of thousands of castle turrets were reflected in the huge lake located just below the castle. We reached a small corridor full of students, rushing and bumping into each other.
"This is where we're leaving you" Hermione turned to me and hugged me. "Hey, don't worry!", she saw my worried look. "Everything's gonna be alright!"
"Good luck", Harry and Ron added and then they were gone.
"Easy for you," I mumbled to myself. "You're already sorted."
Suddenly I felt someone pushing me and the next thing I knew, I was lying on the floor. No, it wasn't the floor. It was someone else's chest.
"I am so sorry," I said quickly, getting up. I looked up to see the person and it caused me to fall once again.
"Falling for me already," the boy smirked, offering his hand.
"Excuse me?" I asked in disbelief, taking his hand. It was cold, but soft. "It was you who pushed me!"
"Yeah, whatever," he said. "I don't recognize you, did your letter happen to be received several years too late?" He laughed at his own "joke".
"Actually, yes," I had a moment to look at him. He was quite tall, with blond hair falling over his forehead.
"Oh...okay," he looked rather surprised. "So what's your name?"
"I'm Blanca. You?"
"I'm Malfoy. Draco Malfoy"
There was a moment of silence. We were just looking at each other. I couldn't take my eyes of the grey ones in front of me. Suddenly, another boy approached us and tapped Draco's shoulder.
"Draco, you coming?" He asked and then looked at me. "Oops, I didn't realise," he grinned, "I'll just go by myself. I'm Blaise by the way," he winked at me. And with that, he left. I looked back at Draco, whose cheeks were slightly scarlet. He quickly recovered himself from abashment.
"I'll see you inside," he bowed, turned around and walked away.

"Welcome back, older students, and welcome new students!" A tall, thin man with a reaally long beard spoke. I was sure he was Albus Dumbledore, the Headmaster.
"I know you are all starving, believe me, I am myself looking forward to taste all those delicious meals as well, but before we start the feast, new students must be sorted."
When he sat down, Deputy Hadmastress, professor Minerva McGonagall, whose name I recognized from the letter, came in, with a hat in her hands."I will now be reading out your names and the Sorting Hat will decide in which of the four houses you belong: Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff. Before I start reading out first years, we have a new fifth year student"
I could hear whispers from everywhere. "New fifth grader?" "How is that possible?" I suddenly felt very nervous when Proffesor McGonagall called my name.
"Blanca Davis"
My legs were weak. I managed to go up the podium and sit on the chair. I could see every single person staring at me.
"New fifth grader? That's what she said?" The Sorting Hat spoke. "Plenty of courage I see... you can fight for yourself for sure... but that comes with competitivness... yes, your ambition seems suitable in Slytherin...No? You don't want Slytherin? Hmmm... inteligent and hard-working as well..." I wish it could speak quieter. There was a moment of dreadful silence when...
"GRYFFINDOR!"
The hall burst with everyone cheering an clapping, maybe except some of the Slytherins. I returned the Sorting Hat to professor McGonagall and, uncontrollably smiling, went to the Gryffindor table (who were expressing their excitement the loudest) to take a seat next to Hermione, who immediately squeezed me into a hug. The cheers louder than the ones my dance team received after winning the Nationals last year didn't stop until professor McGonagall continued.

When I entered the hall, everybody was already inside. I headed to the Slytherin table and took a seat next to Blaise.
"Dude! What took you so long? Or wait - maybe it was that girl?" He grinned.
"Shut up Blaise.", I was still mad at him. "You embarrassed me!"
"It's hilarious how Slytherin's prince everyone's scared of embarrasses himself in front of a girl," he kept grinning. "I'd say it's kinda cute!"
"Oh shut it. Weren't you the one who was turned down by Hannah?" I smirked at him. He went pale but immediately pointed his finger at someone in the front. "Look, it's her!"
I moved my gaze towards the direction he was pointing and saw that girl I crashed into, Blanca. Girls I knew were rather stupid but she seemed...different. She seemed brilliant, actually. Maybe I could—"GRYFFINDOR"
Shit.
