《Your POV》

The ball was slowly coming to a close and I decided I needed some fresh air. So, I went to take a small walk through the woods. The moon was lighting my path as I was walking through the large trees that surrounded the school. The rugged surface making it tough to walk in my heels. 'Something is wrong with them...the way they were all looking at me as I left just wasn't right.' I thought as a gust of cold air blew through the trees. I shivered slightly but continued walking. I didn't really have a particular direction in mind, but it was a direction none the less. I was just letting my feet lead the way. As I walked further, I came upon a small cottage, moss and grass covered the roof and I could see dim lights through the windows, a thin plume of smoke was coming out of the chimney. I approached as quietly as I could trying to get a better look at the cabin when the door opened. An old woman with a kind face looked at me holding a torch in her hand.

"About time! I was beginning to think you wouldn't show! Come in come in, you must be freezing!" She spoke sweetly motioning me to come in the cabin. 'I must be crazy for doing this...' I thought as I stepped up the creaking stairs and into the cabin. It smelled of cinnamon and honey giving the room a warm and inviting ambiance. A small fire crackled in the corner with a large cauldron hanging over it bubbles away softly. Herbs and other weird objects sat on multiple shelves that were scattered around the walls. The old woman sat the torch in a holder and gently grabbed my hand and sat me down at a roughly carved wooden table. "I was wondering when you'd show up Y/n. I honestly didn't think you'd take this long but you're here, and that's all that matters." She spoke as she poured me a cup of what I assumed to be tea. "How do you know my name? What do you mean you didn't think I'd show up? Who are you?" I asked giving her a puzzled look. She gave me a soft smile and sat down. "Ah so many questions that's good."

Her face was worn with care and hard work, and she had long black hair that reached down to her waist. I looked at the outfit she wore and saw it was somewhat crudely sewn together with different pieces of brown and black fabric. Gems, sticks, and what looked like a small silver locket hung from her neck. "Well I'll be glad to answer them my dear. But first we must have a drink." She held up her cup and indicated that I should as well and we gently clinked the cups together. "To a new friendship may the gods bless us for a happy and long one." We both took a sip from our drinks and sat them down.

"I have been waiting to meet you for the longest time you know. And as to how I know you it's because I'm your grandmother." "G-Grandmother?! But how my parents said that she died before I was born!" I gave her a shocked look. She chuckled at my reaction but shook her head. "Ah yes I suppose that is something that your mother would do. I was basically kicked out from the family because of my practices. Your mother never approved or understood what I did...and I suppose when she had you, she didn't want you to be "influenced" as she put it."

"Influenced? What practices could be so bad that she didn't want anything to do with you?" I asked taking another sip of my tea. "I'm a witch Y/n. I was born a witch and if my assumptions are correct, you should be too." She said seriously. "But that can't be true. It's impossible." I looked at her in pure disbelief of every word she's said. "But it is true my dear. I know it's hard to believe and I know this is your first time meeting me, but I want to know if you inherited any form of powers." She but her hand on mine and gave me a soft smile. "Does that mean mom is one too? And how can this be true how do I know you're even my real grandmother?" She took the small locket that hung from her neck and opened it. It had a picture of a small girl with a goofy grin inside it, it was my mom but when she was a lot younger. "Your mother gave this to me as a present when she was young." She said closing it with a small click. "And no dear she's not, it skips a generation."

I still couldn't believe it. 'A witch? Me? No. Not possible.' "How could I even be a witch? It just doesn't make sense." "Yes I know I know dear, but I'm going to help you figure out your powers and the correct term would be Wiccan or sorceress. Witch is such an overused term in my opinion. Now let's see what you can do." She took my hand once more and lead me to the outside again. Leaning on a moss covered tree was a beautiful looking staff.

"You see that staff. I had it made just for you." I went to walk over there to grab it, but she pulled me back. "No no no. Call it to you Y/n." I looked at her and then looked at the staff. 'This has to be a joke.' I thought. "Call it to me? How?" "Use your mind. You're a smart girl Y/n." I raised my arm and looked at the staff and focused all my energy on it, but nothing happened. This went on for several minutes and I began to grow impatient. "Nothing is happening grandmother. Maybe you were wrong about me." I gave her a defeated look.

"Oh, shush you're just trying too hard. Magic is really very simple dear. You just want something then let yourself have it. Let it flow through your body like a river. You can't control it, but you can change its direction. Now try again." I sighed and took a deep calming breath focusing on the staff once more. 'Just let it come to me.' My hand felt like it had suddenly become filled with a magnetic force as the staff began to shake and wobble before it flew to my hand. I looked at it with wide eyes. "You did it! Oh, my goodness I'm so proud of you Y/n! You've just taken your first step into becoming a sorceress!" She looked so proud, and she gave me the biggest hug. "This is all so amazing I just can't believe it!" I said happily. "Believe it my dear. I can't wait to train you and to- wait what time is it?!" She gasped and looked at the moon that was rising ever so slowly above us. "You must go it's far too late for you to be out here. Let's get you back to that friend of yours before she loses her marbles looking for you."

《Small time skip》

We made our way back through the forest and to the back entrance of the school. Just before we reached the end, she stopped me. She laid a hand on my shoulder and looked at me with a serious look on her face. "Y/n
I have a gift for you just before we part ways." She handed be a leather bound book that had all sorts of different symbols on it. "Learn from it, study it as much as you can okay? And...a warning please be careful who your friends are Y/n. I sense that danger is headed your way...I hope that you will be prepared for it when it arrives." "Danger what do you-"

"Y/n! Oh my god what the hell!" I turned to see Emily running up to me and punched my arm. I turned back to look at my grandmother, but she was nowhere to be seen. "Where the hell have you been! You can't just leave the premises like that what if someone kidnapped you or worse! Come on my mom and dad are worried sick!" She exclaimed grabbing my arm and pulling me through the schools exit and into the limo. "I'm sorry Emi I didn't mean to worry you so much." I said as I tried to hide the staff and book, very poorly I might add but she didn't seem to care about the strange objects in my hand. "Next time tell me that you're going for a walk, okay?" I sighed and nodded.

《Time Skip》

Emily had dropped me off at my house she wanted to come along to spend the night there, but her parents wouldn't allow it. So, I begrudgingly walked up the stairs and went inside. I placed my stuff on the counter and walked up stairs. I got ready to take a shower and very carefully took my dress and shoes off along with the tiara. The shoes glittered in the soft lighting as they sat on my dresser. "What a night Minion. Everything is so hard to comprehend. I wonder what she meant by danger..." Minion gave a soft meow as she sat on my bed. After a few more minutes pondering at my grandmother's warning, I jumped in the shower. The water was nice and relaxing I felt all the stress and anxiety melt away. Once I was done, I reluctantly got out and got dressed into some comfy pajamas.

"Okay let's see what's in this book." I skipped down the stairs and picked up the rather large novel. I spent a good few hours studying it, drinking in every drop of knowledge the book had to offer, but reading it and actually practicing it was two different things. I started with the very basics. I was able to albeit weakly preform a few spells. I knew I would get the hang of it eventually but that was going to be a long road ahead. Before I knew it dawn had approached. I shut the book and my mind felt like a rung sponge as I plopped in my bed, too exhausted to answer the phone that had begun to ring.

《End of Chapter》

Ok y'all I know this was a rather...weird chapter but I have been wanting to add a magic aspect to this story. I feel like the reader should have some sort of advantage however small that advantage is. And I just think that you as the readers shouldn't have to deal with the whole damsel in distress situation again. Yes this will affect the story but hopefully it will be in a positive manner. And I know it's a random chapter to say the least but I think it really has potential. I hope you enjoy it and it won't totally suck 🙂
