Chapter 7

As you walked down the streets of Asakusa, you were bombarded by guys that were shoving gifts to you. Men of all ages, even little teen boys, were giving you things like mochi, pots, pans, exotic tea leaves, etc. it was weird because you didn't even know who some of them were. Luckily you weren't on shift with anyone because you just kept getting stopped every couple of seconds. It felt kind of weird being showered with gifts, but it was rude in japan to not accept these kind gestures. As you continued throughout your stroll with your hands full of gifts, you accidentally bump into someone in front of you. This causes some of the stacked gifts to fall; however, the person you bumped into was quick to catch them before they fell on the ground. It turned out to be kaneki Fuji, the local f boi of asakusa. He was known to be a major player that dated almost everyone in the city, everyone except you. It's funny because he's tried countless times trying to get at you, but he never got the chance.

"Thank you Fuji" you say immediately trying to take the stuff back from him.

"Y/n! What are the odds of bumping into you! Wow looks like you've had a pretty hectic white day. I can help you with that. Where are you headed?" he says as he takes the stuff out of your hands.

"Oh yeah hahah. Thank you then. I'm on my way back to HQ. just making my rounds..." you say as you start walking with him to HQ. surprisingly he wasn't trying to make a move on you, which was odd. You end up having a good conversation with him on your way back. It was strange since it seemed like fuji was a completely different person, a better person. Once you arrive at HQ, you grab your things from Fuji and offer to invite him inside to thank him for helping.

" that's alright y/n. I appreciate the offer, but I have to head out. I'll see you around" Fuji says as he waves you goodbye. As you head back inside, Hina and hike were quick to greet you. "Y/N! Was that Fuji-San? Why were you with him? Did he give you all that? Are you and him a thing?" They say as they're bombarding you with more questions. Beni and konro end up walking into the room.

" hello y/n? How are you today? My you've gotten a lot of gifts. Who are they from?" Konro says as he gives you a cheeky smile as he looks at you, hina and hika. Beni had his iconic gloomy expression as always;however,an eyebrow did twitch when he saw the piles of gifts next to you. Before you could respond to konro, hina and hika were quick to interrupt. "They're from Fuji-San! He walked y/n home from her shift. " the twins answer on your behalf, but little did konro and Beni know that that wasn't the truth. Benis face turns sour when he hears this, but you really wouldn't have noticed unless you've known Beni for a long time. "No, they're actually from other people. I just accidentally bumped into Fuji and he helped me bring stuff back." You say as you try to explain. Konro knew what you were trying to say. "Ah that makes sense. Well Fuji was nice to be a gentleman and help you. So how has your white day been then? Any dates for tonight?" Konro asks while trying to stop the twins from going through all your gifts. You chuckle slightly as he holds onto the twins up in the air. "No. No dates for tonight. Everyone's really nice, but I don't know." You say as you fiddle with the strings of your kimono. Beni was quick to notice your behavior, which was completely different from last night. Dating wasn't something you've ever experienced, especially since you had been alone and an assassin your whole life. This was the first year that you might've lived a somewhat normal life. "I'm not really interested because I never really da-" you were interrupted by one of the peacekeepers coming in to inform you about a nearby accident 3 blocks down. It was just a petty crime so you just needed to go alone. "I'll be right back" you say to Konro and Beni as you get up and head out the door.

It didn't take long to get to the crime scene where there was just a fight between two bachelors fighting for a girl. This ended up getting a little violent so you decided to step in, but suddenly you hear a familiar voice yell right behind you. "OI. Stop this" the voice ended up coming from the one and only Fuji. Surprisingly, the men instantly stopped at the sound of Fuji's command. Everyone ends up dispersing, leaving you and Fuji facing each other. "Well it seems like we meet again" Fuji says as he walks up to you. You never realized how attractive Fuji was until now as he's standing face to face with you. As you looked into his light blue eyes, you couldn't help but admire his features and why every girl would typically fall for him. "Yeah seems so" you chuckle slightly. "Oh thank you for breaking up the fight. Saved me a lot of trouble" you say as you scratch your head innocently. Fuji took notice of this and smiled slightly. "No problem. Happy to help since people get crazy on white day. " this causes both of you to laugh. Just as you were about to head back to HQ, Fuji stops you. "Wait y/n!" This catches you off guard, but you stopped to hear what he had to say. "Since this is our second time running into each other, would it be possible for us to grab dinner tonight? No strings attached, just good company" Fuji says nervously as he's looking down to the ground. You found this slightly cute since you've never seen this side of Fuji before. He was different from his usual self and you liked that. You were hesitant at first since you weren't sure what to expect, but then you remembered your bet with Beni last night. You wanted to prove to him that you could get with anyone you wanted so you ended up accepting Fuji's offer. This causes Fuji to jump like a little boy who just got a new toy. "Okay I'll come pick you up at 7!" You nod as you leave to head back to HQ to get ready. Back in HQ, you ended up wearing a new dress that tamaki gave you when she came to visit last time. It was a red body con mini dress that was off the shoulder and had an open back. It was definitely more vulgar than the outfits you typically wear, but that was the only dress you had besides work kimonos. You ended up putting a little bit of makeup on just to try it out, but it definitely felt heavy on your face. As you were just about to finish getting ready, you hear a knock on your door. "Come in!" You yell as you were rummaging around your room to find shoes. As Beni opens the door, his eyebrows instantly raise as his eyes are shocked at the sight of you in your outfit. You take notice of this. "What. Do I look bad?" You check yourself out in the mirror to see what Beni was so shocked about. He was speechless at first, but he tried to play it off cool. "That outfit doesn't seem like you" he says as he leans on the doorway. You get irritated after hearing this. "Shut up. I didn't have anything else to wear... does it look bad in it" you ask him, but before he could respond, Konro walks in. "Hey y/n- wow. You look beautiful" Konro says as he looks at you up and down. "Awh thank you. It's not something I typically wear so I wasn't sure how it looked" you say shyly. Beni tried to seem disinterested, but he couldnt take his eyes off of you. The way the dress hugged all your curves and accentuated your body. This sight made Beni realize how much of a woman you were. Konro noticed beni checking you out so he chuckled slightly at Beni. "Well you definitely left Beni speechless" Konro says as you turn your attention to Beni. You laugh at Beni trying to deny Konros accusation and continue to find your shoes. Konro and Beni start arguing at your doorway as you looked for your shoes, which you eventually end up finding underneath your drawer. "Oh yeah y/n. Fuji is here to pick you up" Konro says as he chokeholds Beni in his arms. You laugh at the sight as you put on your shoes. We all end up walking to the entrance of HQ to see Fuji dressed in a form fitting suit. Fuji's face was in shock to see you in your dress. "Y/n... you look beautiful". You smile as you compliment him on his suit as well. Just as you were about to head out, Beni couldn't help but stop you. "Y/n wait!..." Beni says as he looks at you with his usual gloomy expression. His brows were furrowed as you waited for him to finish talking but he ended up stopping. "Never mind" Beni says as he turns around and walks toward the backyard. You were confused about what he wanted to say, but you ended up leaving with Fuji.

At dinner, everything was fine up until Fuji started getting handsy with you. He would try countless times to touch your lower back after dinner. He even tried to touch your side boob a few times too. "Fuji, if you don't stop, swear to god..." you say as you swatted his hands away from you. "Cmon y/n.. you know you like that.. or you wouldn't have worn it in the first place" he says as he caressed your thigh and got awfully close to your crotch. You instantly grab his hand and slam him onto the ground. That was the last straw. "What I wear doesn't mean I want it nor does it mean I'm inviting you in" you say as you end up building a flame barricade to lock him in. Just as you were walking away, you could hear Fuji yelling and cursing at you like he usually does whenever you would reject him. You couldn't believe you almost fell for him. You were so disappointed in yourself for believing that you were ready to date and that you'd actually get the chance of finding love. You ended up taking a long walk to clear your mind and come back to reality that you weren't cut out for love nor a normal life. This was just something you had to remember and get use to. Just as you make it back to HQ at around 11pm, you hear noises coming from the backyard. You were confused who it could be since everyone was supposed to be sleeping. It turned out to be Beni doing some late night training again. As you watched Beni practice his iaido martial arts, you realized that Beni was right about last night. Maybe you weren't actually a gift nor a treasure that everyone liked. Maybe you were just a nobody that was just there. You end up deep in thought as you leaned on the doorway in disappointment. You end up snapping out of it as you hear Beni yell. "Oi. You're back." Beni says as he wipes sweat off his face. You blush slight at the sight of a sweaty Beni. You played it off cool since it was dark enough to hide your pink cheeks. "Yeah. Thankfully..." you say with your eyes looking down on the ground. Beni took this as a sign that the date didn't go well. He didn't want to ask you about it since you didn't seem to want to talk about it. "Do you want to do some training?" He suggested as he threw you a matoi to which you catch instantly. You ended up training with him in your dress since you didn't know how to handle emotions besides through fighting. You and Beni end up sparring for a bit until you take a water break. As you sat in the ground to catch your breath, Beni takes a seat next to you. He initiates the conversation. "Bad date huh." He says as he took the water bottle from your hand to grab a sip. "Tell me about it. I hate dating. And white day" you say as you look into the night sky to see the stars. It was silent at first, but it was a good silence. "Say Beni, you were right. Maybe I'm not cut out for this life" you say as you still looked up at the stars. Beni couldn't help but admire your face as he tried to think of words to say. "Nah. Life is just weird sometimes so it's not just you. Don't let that dumbass Fuji get to you. Knew he was bad news" Beni says as he continued to take sips out of your water bottle. You realized this and grabbed it back from him. "Eh I don't know. Sometimes I think that being in asakusa was a mistake.." you say as you start picking at your nails to avoid the conversation. Beni was quick to interrupt you. "Stop" Beni said with a stern voice that kind of shook you. You never heard him raise his voice like that. "Look, company 7 wouldnt be the same without you...everyone here appreciates you... and all that you've done. Even me.." Beni says avoiding eye contact with you. He gets up to grab something from his kimono and gives it to you. "Here. " he says as he shoves a box into your hands. A look of confusion covered your face. You slowly open the box to find a necklace with a star pendant on it. You were shocked at how pretty it was, but you were even more confused why Beni gave you it. "Beni what is this. I can't -" " it's for you. Now stop thinking too much because you're getting on my nerves" Beni says as he grabs his stuff and head back inside. You stay a little bit longer outside and admire the necklace Beni just gave you. This was the first gift anyone has ever given you that you actually appreciated. As you put on the necklace by yourself, Beni was secretly hiding behind the doorway watching you. He couldn't help but smile at you wearing the gift he gave you and hoped that you wouldn't pick up that it was actually his gift for you for white day. As he watched you from a distance, he felt his emotions run wild at the fact that Beni almost exposed his crush on you, but thankfully you were clueless of his emotions toward you. Just as you were about to head back inside, you hear Beni and konro talking about whether Beni gave you his white day gift to you yet. That's when you realized that Beni actually liked you. You smiled as you held onto the necklace and waited for them to leave. You figured you might as well pretend you didn't hear anything to avoid ruining your friendship with Beni , but you were glad that your feelings were mutual and that you meant something to someone, especially Beni.
