Dawn has arrived with its rays unseen I stood by the window, wondering where you've been Windows pressed and doors pounded Saw you coming in with your eyes shrouded I asked what was wrong And you looked at me for long You told me to leave, to shut my ears Because today, you'll no longer be here I demanded that you stay, to do everything you could But you shook your head and suddenly stood Paced towards the door frame, the sun lighting And you were gone the next, no sign of sighting
The sunlight shone but the sky refused Silent clouds of darkness have slowly abused The fading light, the glowing light of life Would have been taken without any strife But we are one yet we are different Different—like day and night to no end We believed we are destined for each other But fate said otherwise—we will never be together We fought against the falling rain Praying, hoping for anything but pain That moment when you ran and left me The story of the rain would have been told freely
The afternoon sun shone quite fiercely But our love has been shining dimly Fighting for lives lost, trying in futility Never giving our worst, what chance have we? Going away in a hurry, but leaving slowly What if we left our hearts behind, do you see? We could have been fine, better than most But we chose wrong and everything we lost Slowly going away from the window sill Tying the curtains close, keeping my heart still The ground is soft, yet suddenly dry The story of the rain unfolded by and by
The night sky has descended on us But your smile ignited love whenever it passed Thinking about our shattered hearts Is something we could do apart We loved, lived, lied, lost But somehow, we ended up having the most We lost, we ran, we tried back again We fell apart and something has been forgotten The past is gone, the future awaits But our love has passed like calendars and dates For the rest of us, we have told the story of the rain Hoping one day, we could get over this maddening pain

This is written almost to the end of the year 2016. I'm fifteen.
I have no idea what this poem means, honestly. I don't know what the story of the rain was and I still don't know until now. I just wrote about it.
So, what do you think of this poem? Comment below. :))
