On My Own

Lyndsey's POV:

I walked home from a local coffee shop because I needed a pumpkin spice latte to boost me up before I could continue writing my book. I walked through the front door and locked the door behind me. I threw my keys on the stand and kicked off my boots while I headed toward my office. I set my coffee on my desk and set my purse on the ground. I quickly turned on my computer and let it boot. Once it was done, I pulled up a web browser and saw the news regarding Niall. I was hesitant to even click on it but I eventually caved in and clicked on it. I read through the article and found pictures of Hailee and Niall together. The article claimed that the two were spotted several times out in public. I immediately thought that this was bogus so I quickly closed the browser. I left my office and went into the living room where I saw Niall sitting on the couch, with his phone in his hands.

"Texting the boys are we?" I smiled.

"Huh," Niall murmured as he looked at me and quickly turned off his phone. "Hey baby, how was the coffee shop?"

I peck kissed Niall and gently rubbed his shoulder before pulling apart when a text message came in on Niall's phone so I gently peered over and saw that he was texting his ex, Hailee. I stood up and took a second to breathe so I could figure out what I was gonna do next.

"Niall," I began. "Why are you texting Hailee?"

Niall completely ignored me and continued to text Hailee.

"Did you hear me?" I snapped.

"Huh, oh I'm sorry love, what did you say?"

I walked around the couch so that I was standing across from Niall.

"Why are you texting your ex?" I repeated.

Niall's mood completely shifted. He stared at me in utter silence. Just then, another text message came in from Hailee followed by two more. Niall looked down and began texting her again.

"Niall!" I yelled.

"What?" He replied.

"Answer me," I demanded.

"What do you want me to say? Yes, I am texting Hailee!" Niall shouted. "You shouldn't be mad about this!"

"I'm irritated that you are texting her but that's not why I'm upset," I explained. "How long have you been seeing her?"

"Why are you upset then?!"

"Answer the question, Niall! How long have you been texting her? This matter is all over the news! I just saw it."

Niall fell silent. He looked down at the ground then up at the ceiling before looking back at me and answering, "We've been in contact for two months now."

"Two months!" I choked. "Niall, how could you do this?"

"Yes, but's it's not what you're thinking," Niall mumbled.

"Niall, how could you?" I cried. "I am upset that you have been hiding this from me for two months. How am I supposed to trust someone who hides things from me?"

Niall didn't know what to say. I was so hurt and angry, that I went upstairs. I quickly threw all of his things in a bag and walked back down the stairs, only to find Niall waiting for me at the bottom.

"Lyndsey, what are you doing?" He asked.

I threw the bag at him and he caught it. Then, I opened the front door and pushed him out of my house.

"We are done!" I shouted as I slammed my front door, locking it behind me.

I pressed my back to the door and slowly slid down as I cried my eyes out
