The wooden door stood before him. Gracefully, he pushed it open and immediantly caught sight of the girl's body. Blue and purple bruises masked her pale legs from running across the grassland so eargerly.

But, why would she run into my kingdom? Thranduil thought. Her ebony coloured hair was splayed out on the plumb, white pillows. Not only could he see her physical appearence, but could sense her mental appearnce aswell.

He observed the way that her chest rose and fell between breathes, which was perfectly normal. Suddenly, she flinched and awoke, panting like a dog. "Sssh elleth. You have had a troublesome journey and need to be calm."

She turned her head while sweat poured off of her face. "How long have I been asleep?" she asked, breathless.

"Three days, including today." Surprised, her eyes widened.

"Do not be so shocked. You are under my protection now." He chuckled softly. That hit the nail on the head.

"Oh" King Thranduil! Forgive me! I did not know it was you!" she exclaimed.

A low laugh escaped his soft lips, as he grabbed a cold cloth, dabbing it across the girls sparkling forehead. Her breath started to slow down to a steady pace.

Clearing his throat, the elvenking asked "What is your name, young one?"

She moved on the bed into a sitting position, making herself comfortable. "My name is Rowena, my lord-"

"Call me Thranduil. It sounds much better. Only my servants call me "my lord"."

For their whole conversation, Thranduil was smiling, more than he usually does when he is around Legolas, his only son. " Well, it was nice meeting you Rowena. I shall have one of my maids to bring you some fresh clothes and run you a nice, warm bath."

"Namaarie." (Farewell). said Thranduil.

"Elen saesa omentien lle." (A pleasure meeting you).

After King Thranduil had left her chamber, Rowena got out of her cosy bed and strode over to the window. Inside, she could see the sea of stars above her, dotted here and there. The woods that lay beyond the fortress, assumed to be full of nasty and absent-minded creatures. She noticed that the night life darted across from tree to tree in search of food.

While she was observing the wildlife, there was a knocked sounded upon the door. "Sorry to intrude my lady, but I have your dresses that king Thranduil ordered for you to have. I shall put them into your closet."

"Diola ille." ( Thank you).

"Lle creoso." (You're welcome).

The maid wore a velvet green dress with a plain apron, covering her from the dirt. Her long blonde hair swayed back and forth as she tucked the dresses into the closet. When she had finished, she hurriedly clean up the closet and left Rowena to herself once again.

She manoeuvred to a crimson arm chair that was near the small bookcase in the corner and sat upon it, looking out of the window for a second time. Why am I here? She thought to herself. I do hope I have not destroyed any plans for the Ki- Thranduil, I mean...

Feeling like a birds nest, she changed out of her torn dress and into a sky blue night gown, which fit perfectly. Taking the brush near the full-sized mirror, she gently brushed out her hair and plaited her fringe on either side of her head.

Now that she felt more comfortable in her new attire, she sat down upon the bed and imagined that it would take her to her family so she could see them for one last time, not in ash and dust.

As time went by, her head began to feel heavy and nearly drifted off to sleep when another knock sounded on the door. "There is a bath for you, my lady. If you would just like to follow me." Another female voice came through the door.

All of these maids, where do they come from?

Rising from her seat, she strode over to the door and opened it, only to close it again as she came out of her chamber. The fresh air that drifted in from the main gate, made her long, ebony hair slightly wave in the wind, lapping at her back.

They both travelled through large and spectacular corridors that had peculiar engravings upon the columns. Rowena watched in awe as all of the carvings told a different elven story like: the battle between Sauron and the elves (which also included man).

As they continued to walk, they came to a beautiful wooden door with a diamond encrusted doorknob, sparkling like a star in the night sky. Only, she did not know, that she was on her way to the king's chamber.
