Dark ashen blue eyes slowly open and what usually is a calm and smiling looking face now holds a deep frown.
He had ran away like a baby, at least that is what the young one tells himself.
How will he face his mom candidate now, the baker must have been so confused by his action and he can't take it back, so instead the boy sulks in his hiding spot made by blankets. His sock clothed feet printed with white bunnies, rests outside of the blankets and suddenly he feels that horror every human being experience at least once in their lives. That fear of something going to grab one's feet and drag you to the realms of the netherworld.
Just as the horror slightly creeps inside his body, Lan Sizhui pulls his feet towards himself.
However he is not fast enough and he cannot avoid expressing his surprise with a yelp as he is pulled out of the comforts of his lazy makeshift blanket fort."Sizhui, you will catch a cold laying on the floor."
Dark eyes hiding a hint of gold looks at him with a hidden curiosity and the little boy laying flat on the floor wishes to cover from the intense stare.
Since his father don't even know of their soon to be new family member yet, he cannot confide his thoughts and troubles."I was surrounded by blankets."
Lan Sizhui says while focusing on a big white bunny toy to his left, completely avoiding his father's gaze.
Lan Wangji's right eyebrow quirks up slightly and then he realize the situation.
His son will only make a blanket fort when he is either angry, sad or confused.Lan Wangji takes a deeper breath than he usually would but it still barely makes any sound, with effortless and elegant movements, the father now sits next to his son on the floor.
Lan SIzhui tense at the anticipation, there is no way he is getting away without giving any kind of reason, he doesn't like lying so what is he gonna do."Sizhui, did you perhaps have a fight with a friend?"
Without thinking Lan Sizhui immediately looks over at his father with wide eyes and just like that he already lost the chance of avoiding the conversation.
The boy directs his head forwards quickly but his father had already spotted his reaction but being stubborn Lan Sizhui still stares up at the ceiling showing no signs of actually wanting to discuss the matter at all.
So when the soft uncertain voice reaches Lan Wangji's ears he is slightly startled but pleased it was so easy to earn a response."Papa, umm, if someone is really close to you and you run out on them, could.. could you still return to what was before?"
Lan Wangji usually don't really get surprised or more accurately show his surprise, but hearing the insecurity in his son's voice catches him off guard and it shows on his face.
He has known for a long time that he has been blessed with a gifted child but sometimes it even comes like a shock to him how intelligent his son actually is.
Questions like these usually isn't typical seven year old discussions so taking a moment to push down his proud, Lan Wangji direct his mind to focus on the question and what meaning it could hold.Lan Wangji has since childhood been told he is an stone faced character, the only person being able to read him is his brother.
His son has improved in being able to read and understand him but he has also learned to be a bit more expressive towards his son alone since he is worth that effort. Unfortunately his son has also taken after him slightly in this aspect and now Lan Wangji knows the struggle others experience with himself."It is wrong running away from someone if they are someone special but that also means that if they are someone special they should be able to forgive you."
Lan SIzhui repeats the words slowly and tries to analyse the meaning behind them.
'Someone special..' Lan Sizhui repeat inside his head.
'Wei gege truly is someone special, but what about me, am I special to Wei gege?'Lan Sizhui's thought must have left a sour taste in his mouth because once again a deep frown forms on the small and slightly round face.
Lan Wangji notice and he realize now that the situation might be more serious than he had firstly believed.
A firm but warm hand starts to soothingly pat through dark brown locks and Lan Sizhui starts to slightly purr like a cat at the gentle and affectionate action from his father.
This has always been a way his father communicate with him, such a small gesture can have such a huge and impactful meaning."If you feel uncertain on what to do how about I follow you?"
While loosing himself into the pleasant feeling of the light massage on his scalp Lan Sizhui doesn't really take the words in at first but when he does his eyes bursts open wide.
"No!"
Lan Sizhui has always been a calm and careful child so to suddenly see such a strong outburst creates a red flag in Lan Wangji's brain.
"I.. I mean I couldn't trouble papa like that, it's fine I will solve it tomorrow like papa I won't be a coward."
Lan Sizhui smiles up at his father and while Lan Wangji's heart flutter at the adorable puppy look, he knows there is something about this that is fishy.
"En"
Lan Wangji simply replies and the both of them fall into a pleasant silence as he continues to pat his son's clever little head.
Lan Sizhui had tried to salvage his mistake but the damage was already done because the next day Lan Wangji took the matter into his own hands on finding out what his son is hiding.

So for those wondering since last I updated I said I was meeting a doctor, I have been diagnosed Anemic and now I know why my concentration has been literal shit, it's the reason why I haven't been updating my stories my brain has just turned into a vast emptiness only able to consume Chinese dramas for its amusement.
Hopefully this concentration issue will lift soon so I can actually sit down be creative again and work on stuff I love.
Thank you all for your patience and thank you for reading, I'll try working harder on updates but know this author is getting stronger healthwise, fighting! ❤️
