I talk to the god of the pit

I don't know when I fell asleep. Just know that it happened. How I could sleep after being unconscious for who knows how long? Don't ask me. Maybe it was cause of that stupid gash.
Meh.
Anyways...
I am in my school. In Mrs. Ala's class. The one teacher who hates my guts. Right across from me was...Justin? Yes that's definitely him, with his amber eyes and tanish skin. Same warm smile.
"Thank God your okay." He says, relief flooding into his voice. I smile. He leans in for a hug.
"Ahh, young love" a new voice chimes.

Shivers attack my spine as I feel a wave of unease hit me. I turn to the direction of the voice. A very, very tall man was looming over me. He wore a helmet that shows scenes of tortured souls. He wore a breastplate that shows the same thing. I can't see his face very clearly. (He is not to be trusted.)

"I used to have love. But a prophecy toke her away from me. To be more specific a bunch of demigods destroyed her conscience." he says in a tone of sadness and bitterness.
(Demigods? Is that the same as half blood?)
"He isn't my lover." I say slowly.

The man was silent, and the waves of unease are slowly getting stronger.

Then, a laugh torn through the silence. It wasn't a humor filled laugh, but a horribly bitter sound.

"Athena's kids apparently believe it technicalities. I suppose it makes sense. But I don't think you know who I am."
"How do you know?" I say, trying to keep any tone that could be seen as offensive out of my voice.
"Because if you did, you'd be shaking in fear, begging me to spare your life. You should join me" he says. "You would be a great addition to the cause. Powerful. And amusing. "

I scoff. Me, powerful? Amusing, I can believe, but powerful?

"You were the one who made the water shield" He points out.

"How do you know that?" I ask.

He shrugs, "I have my ways. You obviously aren't ready. You don't even know who I am. So you're a fresh slate. You could join me. Ill teach you how to use your powers and you can become unstoppable! Will you do It? Will you join me?"

I brace myself. I can't join him. He will most likely betray me and I would betray my friends.
But he doesn't seem like someone who gets told 'no' often.

"Well, that sounds great and all, but I can't do that. So I'm going to have to refuse your offer. Sorry."

The small portion of his face I could actually see twists.

"What a pity." He says, his voice laced with harshness, "Such a waste. We will meet again on the battle field. Then you will wish you had accepted my offer. Goodbye, Lily."

And with that, dark blue engulfs the plain, and Justin was lost. Coldness seeps into my skin, and my lunges burn from the lack of oxygen. I'm being dragged down, the pressure was getting more intense.
To die by water?
This was new for my nightmares.
Even so, my vision blurs and I relax my rigid body.
I feel better now. I'm able to breathe.
Why?

I didn't drown.

Why?
