Annabeth

AHS, New York City

Present

Oh. My. Gosh. Why? I try to get to know Perseus  (A/N: writing Perseus is really annoying. I can't wait until I don't have to write it anymore *wink wink*) he just gives me sass. Whatever.

"You were right Luke. I shouldn't have talked to him at all.", I sighed

"What? No! That was not what I meant. He is a sweet boy. Don't ignore him like some gum on the bottom of a shoe.", Luke insisted

I sighed and rubbed my face with my hands. "I don't know any more."

Luke looked at me with sympathy, "Whats wrong?"

"Its just, he look so familiar. I know him from somewhere but I don't know who he is."

Luke shook his head teasingly. "You do hate not knowing things."

"How do you know? You just met me this morning."

"I just know."

"Whatever." All of the sudden I got an idea. "What if you helped be find out if I know him from the past?"

He shrugged, "Why not? As long as Thalia can help out. I hate leaving her out of things. Oh and she might bring her brother Jason. Oh and he might bring his girlfriend Piper. Oh and she might bring-"

"Okay I get it. Sure fine invite them. The more the mirier."

Luke pumped his fist. I rolled my eyes and smiled. This might be a great year. I already have a best friend and hopefully i'll click with this Thalia, Jason, Piper, and whomever might come along with Piper. I bit my lip. First day and I already have friends.

As I walked out of the school building in the late after noon, I couldn't help my mind slide to the black haired boy. He seemed so close yet so far away. I readjusted my gray backpack strap and walked down the street. The clouds started coming together, creating a stormy grey haze. Thunder sounded in the distance and echoed off the walls of surrounding office buildings. (A/N: insert Office theme here. Sorry back to the story) Lightning flashed in the distance, signifying a storm front rapidly approaching.

Little droplets fell from the sky and smacked the pavement. I put my windbreaker hood up and put my head down. I started to sped walk down the street, hoping to get to my apartment before the storm gets worse.

Jut as the wind was picking up, I reached my apartment building. I hastily entered through through the rotating doors and walked to the elevator.

"What floor miss?", The bellhop asked.

"Ten." I replied and faced the doors as they closed.

The doors slid open shortly after and I stepped out. The elevator doors dinged and slide closed behind me. I walked down the carpeted hallway and reached the door with the number 479 and pulled out my key. The knob clicked as it unlocked and I walked in.

"I'm home!", I shouted. Just as I expected, there was no replay. I slid of my Converse and set them on the wooden shoe rack by the front door. I walked across the shiny wooden floors into the kitchen. I checked the time and the numbers 4:59pm blinked on the microwave. I sighed. Time to make dinner.

I asked the google mini to play Icon for Hire on Spotify and the song Hollow played. I pranced around the kitchen while making mac n' cheese.

Once I was filled I raced down the hallway to my bedroom. I sat on my bed and pulled my homework out of my backpack. I grabbed a #2 pencil and began filling out the answers on the paper.

Perseus

Ugliano Residents, New York City

Present

I walked slowly down the ghetto part of Manhattan kicking rocks. I'd rather be here then home, that's for sure. The rain smacked against my bruised skin like Gabe's hands. The wind blew hard and lose leaves and paper whipped around. I looked at the sky and found no hope of the storm ending. I rubbed my arms and shivered. My teeth clacked against each other.

I looked around and found nobody. Perfect. I changed my coarse towards a lamp post. I leaned my back against the post and put my head down. I slid down the wet metal and sat on the cold hard ground. My eyes welled up with tears and I let out a soft sob. Tear after tear poured down my face. My lips trembled and a few whimpers escaped my mouth. Why me? Why her? Why is life so cruel? What did I do wrong? I try so hard but I only get so far...

The sky grew darker and the rain pelted harder. I knew I should head to the house. I stood and wiped my face. I began to walk on the empty side walk. As I walked I counted the cracks in the pavement.

6..... and so on.

When I got to the number 500 the house came into view. The yellowing paint was peeling off the siding and one half of the porches roof was caved in. The green door was bowed so badly it wouldn't close properly. The over grown grass reached up to the waist and vines grew up the siding. Cigar buds and empty beer bottles littered the moldy porch. The stench of cigar smoke a beer crept outside.

Of coarse the building didn't look to different from the houses on the street.  This whole part of the city was old and empty. I sighed and walked up the moldy steps.

I turned the rusted door knob crept inside. I set my bag and my skate board on the stained floor.

"Hey boy!", Gabe yelled. "Get me another a beer would ya?"

I sighed silently and walked into the dirty kitchen. I open the old icebox, Gabe never bothered to replace, and grabbed the glass bottle. I walked back to Gabe with my head low and handed the bottle to him. He opened it and took a sip. Immediately he scrunched his face so he looked like a constipated ape.

"What the heck is this thing? It's disgusting!", He shouted. What? Its the same beer as always. He must of noticed my confused expression because he looked like an ape again and said, "Oh i'm sorry. The beer's fine. Its you I was talking about."

I lowered my head lower in shame and he backhanded me across the face, "LOOK AT ME WHEN I'M TALKING' TO YOU!" I flinched, looked at him and nodded. "You need to be thought a lesson."

I sighed. I knew what was coming. Gabe's hand collided with my face again and I stumbled back. He Punched me in the nose. I heard a loud crack and I went down. His fat chubby leg collided with my stomach which made slide into the wall. He kicked me again and again. I just lay there, knowing that resisting will make it worse.

"Go to your room you brat.", He stated while panting. I chuckled in my head. The fat ape was out of breath by beating a scrawny kid up. I pushed my self of the floor and headed over to my "room" which just was just the walk in pantry that Gabe doesn't use.

Gabe's eyes followed me as I walked to my "room". I walked in and he shut the door. I heard a click from the out side. I turned the knob and sure enough, it was locked. I walked to the pile of towels I called my bed and lie down. I heard crickets starting to chirp along with the harsh rain and knew that I would spend another sleepless night alone and in pain
