The Kissing Booth: After The Break-up, Elle and Noah

Part 26

Since dad was being released from the hospital today, June arranged for Mathew to pick him up then to pick up Bradley on the way to the Italian restaurant we were all meeting at for dinner.  Since all of us were finally back home June wants to begin having our Evans/Flynn dinners again.  When she called Noah this morning she explained how much she missed the dinners and even though they still had dinners it wasn't the same as when we were all together.  Noah had her on speaker phone so we could all talk.  While we were on the phone June asked if we minded if she kept Nate with her until the dinner.  I agreed it was ok.  I missed my little guy, but I know she wanted to spend as much time with him as she could. After all he is her first and only grandchild(at this point) and she missed the first 4 years of his life. She also didn't know that I was moving back home.

When we get to the restaurant everyone is waiting in the lobby for us.  As soon as Nate sees us he runs to Noah, yelling "daddy."  Noah swings him up and onto his shoulders making Nate laugh.  I turn away to hide my reaction, I still feel so guilty for keeping Nate from him.  It's amazing to see how they have bonded in such a short time.  Not long after we are showed to our table.  Our waitress Wendy comes to take our drink orders, she keeps glancing at Lee.  After she takes the drink and appetizer orders she walks away.  Once she brings our drinks back I watch and I notice Lee isn't paying any attention to her.  She brushed up against him while placing his drink in front of him, glancing up at him with a smile, but he didn't notice, he is involved in a conversation with Bradley.  I see the look of disappointment on her face when she doesn't get any reaction from him.  After giving us our drinks she asks if we are ready to order yet, we all say we need a few minutes.  She assures us she will be back shortly to check on us.  I get Lee's attention and whisper to him that I think our waitress thinks he is cute and trying to flirt with him.  Lee denies this, but I tell him to pay attention when she comes back.  When she delivers the appetizers, she continues to glance at Lee, he notices this time.  He smiles at her and she gives him a small smile back.  They continue to watch and smile at each other all through out dinner. After ordering Lee excused himself and on his way back he stopped to talk to her, when he got back to the table he was smiling.

I haven't really discussed my plans to move back with anyone except Noah.  So when June asks what my plans are I think it's a good time to let everyone know what I plan.  I tell her I'm moving back for good.  My announcement has everyone cheering and extremely excited.  I explain I have to go back and pack up my apartment and ship everything here.  Once that's done I need to start looking for a job.  I do explain what I would really like to do in the near future is go back to school and eventually get my PHD in nursing and become a Nurse Practitioner.  She asks why I didn't continue on after I became a LPN.  I explained that with having Nate and working full time it just wasn't something I felt I could do at the time, but now that I'm moving home and have my family around me it might be something I can do now.  I didn't notice how Noah was listening to our conversation and the looks that passed between Noah and his mom.   

By the time we are ready to leave the restaurant Lee has gotten our waitress' number and they plan to go out next weekend.  I'm glad to see he is open to dating again.  I know it was hard when Rachael suddenly broke up with Lee last year and he hasn't dated since then.  Lee was planning a big proposal when she broke up with him.  After their breakup he found out that she had been cheating on him with someone she met during her time at Brown and that they were planning on getting married.  It broke Lee's heart and it has taken him a long time to get over it.   

After saying good-bye to everyone I get Nate in his car seat.  Noah asks me if I want to go to my dad's or back to his place.  I say we can go back to his place.  On the drive back he asks me about going and packing up my apartment, he says he can take next weekend and go with me if I want him to and his mom will keep Nate for us.  I tell him I think it's a great idea.   We talk more about the time we spent apart and what each of us have accomplished, but neither one of us bring up me going back to school.  

Once we got back to Noah's I give Nate a bath and settle him down for the night.  Noah and I cuddle on the couch watching movies until we fall asleep holding each other.

I know it's a short chapter and boring, but I needed a filler chapter to move the story along.
