Chapter 21: The Battle (Part 2)

Rin quickly grabbed you and pulled you close.

"Are you alright? " Rin exclaimed. You nodded, as you then saw Usamaro passing by.

"Usamaro! " Rin exclaimed as he grabbed him by the ears.

"Let me go Rin! " Usamaro shouted.

"Usamaro, were you telling the truth when you said you used your power to make people happy? " Rin asked. You looked at the small demon, anxious for his answer.

"Of course! But even so, they... They-" Rin cut him off.

"So, that sorta makes you a good guy, doesn't it? " Rin smiled. You looked at Usamaro.

"I knew it! " You smiled.

"Rin... (Y/N)..." Usamaro muttered. All for of you were holding on for dear life as the demon began running on the traintracks. Rin looked over to Usamaro again.

"Look here's the thing, some memories are sad but that's okay 'cause there are things you shouldn't forget. Like my old man, no matter how bad some of those memories hurt, I don't wanna forget, I can't let myself forget!! " Rin exclaimed. The demon continued running through the tunnel, crashing its way out. All four of you were in mid air as you were outside. You held onto Rin as you looked over to Usamaro.

"Whether it's good memories or bad, it doesn't matter you need both kinds or you got nothing. " Rin grinned. You nodded in agreement.

"Rin... " Yukio muttered. The demon's red eye looked at you, as it's eyes multiplied and it opened it's mouth, that was full of jagged teeth. It let out a loud roar.

"Usamaro!! " You shouted as you reached for him. Rin unsheathed his sword, as his blue flames enveloped him.

"Rin... (Y/N)... " Usamaro mumbled. He was almost about to be eaten by the demon, as Rin readied his sword, swinging it down. The slash sparked, as it cut through the demon, causing Usamaro's mask to break. Rin successfully slayed the demon, as it's purple blood spewed out of it. The demon collapsed, it's body taking more damage during it's descend. It's body disintegrating, leaving only the skeleton and black smoke. As Rin landed, he put his sword back, making his flames disappear. You let go of his arm as you saw Usamaro within the cloud of smoke. He stood silent, and bare, wearing only a sorrowful expression. You and Rin began walking towards him, as he took off his uniform jacket. He placed it around the small child.

"Listen Usamaro, here's the deal, don't use your power anymore. Promise us, you won't eat anyone's memories ever again. " Rin smiled softly. You stooped down to his level as you caressed his cheek.

"Promise us, Usamaro. " You said softly with teary eyes. He nodded.
