Chapter 3

Me: Hayes I... I don't know what to do... I want to be your friend but I don't want the benefits part! I hate that you manipulated me! That was rude, selfish, disrespectful and so much more! I don't want to be with you like dating... You barely knew I existed 2 days ago! And we have been in the same class since 6th grade! And we've been neighbors for at least 3 years! But whatever! This shouldn't be texted this is a conversation to have in person! So if you want to meet up somewhere the only place I am able to go to right now are my dad's diner, school, home, and the gym. So pick a place and we can talk! 😒

Am I going to regret saying that I would talk to him about all this? Oh no what have I done! This isn't good! Whatever it's too late! I got up put my hair in a bun and went downstairs. I ate some cereal, then went back upstairs and began putting my makeup on. I started with a moisturizer then foundation then powder. I then put my eyeliner on and then lastly my mascara. I then put a sweatshirt on that I found in m closet, I'm pretty sure it's Brice's and I put on some leggings. I went back down to the family room and put on my snow boots on and my gloves and my cute Neff beanie. I grabbed my phone and left for the diner. I began walking and saw Hayes outside. I was trying to avoid him but it didn't work.

"Can we talk now Paige?"

"Whatever."

"Cool." There was an awkward pause.

"So what do you need to say?"

"Well first I really just want to apologize for the other night. I didn't mean for it go that far! I would do that with other girls but your different! I don't want to just be a one night thing! Or a 'hit it and quit it' type of thing!" He said putting air quotes around hit it and quit it.

"I forgive you for that but I don't know what I want to be with you yet... I don't know if I can trust you fully yet... You were very manipulative!"

"I know I know I'm really sorry! I want you to trust me! I want you to be with me all the time! I want you to be able to come to me with anything! I don't want it to be this one time thing! I want to change but it's just hard! I have my reasons for being the way I am!"

"Why? Why is it hard! You don't have to make it hard! I will help you! I will help you change! You just have to want it!"

"It just is ok! Nobody even wants me to be around! They all are just going to say oh look there is the messed up Hayes trying to act good for a day!"

"No they won't Hayes! If you truly change they won't! I don't know why you are the way you are but maybe one day we can share our life stories with each other but for now you need to try and change! It's not that hard! Even if it means you going to rehab! Do what you can to help yourself become a better person!"

"Thank you Paige! Nobody has told me that they believed in me in a long time! It means a lot!"

"You're welcome! Well I got to get to work so see you later!" I gave him a hug and kissed his cheek in a friendly manner.

"Bye Paige!" I started walking to the diner. "Wait Paige! Let me walk you!"

"Ok." I smiled."but this change what you did! Ok?"

"Ok." We walked pretty much in silence but making small talk here and there. We finally reached the diner.

"Thank you for walking me Hayes."

"You're welcome! Anytime!"

"Do you want to come in? I can get you something to eat.."

"Uhh.. Umm.. Well.. Sure." We walked in and I sat him down and went to the back room and got my roller skates, apron and my order pad. I skated out and asked hayes what he wanted I wrote down what he said and went over to the little spinning thing that you put the orders on. I went over to different tables and parts of the bar and asked people if they needed refills on their sodas or coffee. I've watched the employees do this for years! I've always loved coming here! I would always sit in the corner and do my homework with Brice and my mom. My mom used to work here and she was always the happiest one here. I used to love watching her roll around on her skates and watching everyone's faces as she would come by and do a little song for someone if it was their birthday or something! It was almost like she was a rockstar! This diner is sorta like The Corvette Diner but smaller and no arcade. We have a Dj tho! Speaking of the Dj she made an announcement.
