Brooklyn P.O.V.
Five Months LaterIt's here. Graduation day. I stand in front of my mirror looking at my outfit, a dark red dress that reaches my mid-thigh with spaghetti straps and twists in the front with a semi-low neckline to show cleavage but not too much. I already curled my hair and put on my black stilettos and complete with the diamond earing Dallas got me for Valentines day with my makeup being light but having winged eyeliner and red lipstick. My mom knocks on my door and I tell her to come in. I turn to face her and she gasps and covers her mouth, "You look stunning sweety," she says sincerely and I smile at her, "You look amazing too, mom," I smile, she has on a light pink wrap dress and I curled her dark brown hair earlier which reminds me that I need to get my hair redyed silver soon, she also has on some white heels. "Are you ready," she asks and I nod and grab my cap and gown.
The entire drive my knee bounces as I think about what life will look like in a few months, with me going to the University of Georgia with Dawson and Dallas going to the University of Central Florida. Dallas and I decided to do long distance and try to visit each other as much as possible. My mom is sad about me leaving but she's excited for me to leave Savanah for a while. We arrive at the school and I kiss my mom on the cheek before she walks into the auditorium and I walk over to the other seniors as I look over my valedictorian speech again, yes valedictorian, I learned I'm a lot smarter then I thought I was a few months ago when I was told to prepare the speech and It's been my main focus since.
I walk up to Dallas, Dawson, and Cat. The boys are in their usual nice wear aka black dress pants and shoes with a white button-up shirt and a black blazer while Cat is wearing a light blue, two-piece jumpsuit that has a spaghetti-strapped top that's cropped and flowing pants and her hair is in a half up half down bun and her usual cream heels. "Don't you look sexy," Cat says with her British accent that I've gotten used to she and I have become really close friends and I smile, "Look who's talking," I say with a smile and we quickly hug. "You look beautiful, my love," Dallas says from beside me as his eyes go and down my body taking in my appearance, "Thank you, baby," I smile and kiss his cheek. We all head inside and put our cap and gowns on quickly then head to our rows but, before we do I quickly grab Dawson's arm, "Everything ready," I ask quietly once Cat is out of hearing range, "Everything is ready," he says nervously. "Everything will go fine Dawson," I say sincerely and we all head to our seats. The boys sit a few rows behind me and Cat farther back.
One by one everyone person is called and as my row begins to get called my mind wanders to my dad, I wonder if he's proud of me? He always supported me no matter what I did, and I always did my damndest to make him proud and today I hope he's watching from Heaven proud of the young woman his daughter has become. Then I hear the principal call my name, "Brooklyn Bennett," is said loudly over the speakers and I walk onto the stage and take my diploma as my mother claps with a seat open as if my dad was there. The boys and Cat cheer loudly as I lift my diploma into the air and walk back to my seat. The names continue till it gets to, "Dallas Grey," is called loudly and I cheer as loud as I can the same with his parents, Dawson, and Cat. Then, "Dawson Grey," Is called, Cat, Dallas and I scream as loud as we can for him and he laughs as he returns to his seat. When the principal finally gets to, "Caitlin Holiday," the boys and I scream loudly for me as does her mom. It finally becomes my turn to do my speech so I stand nervously and walk to the stage.
After my speech, everyone stands and claps for me as I hold back tears and sit back in my seat. Once the ceremony, finally, ends everyone gets up to leave. Cat, Dallas, Dawson, and I all meet with our parents outside and take some photos then we take our cap and gowns off and Dallas and I give Dawson a knowing look after Dallas and I take some solo photos. Once Cat and Dawson finish their photo Dawson digs into his pocket and pulls out a black velvet case and slowly goes onto one knee while Cat isn't looking and when she does turn her hand goes to her mouth and she begins to tear up, as do I. Dawson does his long heartwarming speech and finally asks Cat, "Will you marry me," now cat is in full-blown tears as she nods her heads and says "Yes" Dawson slips the ring onto Cat's ring finger and stands up and they kiss as everyone claps and cheers for them, Dallas and I being the loudest. After they break their kiss Cat shows all of us her stunning ring.
Later that night I'm at Dallas's house after a day full of excitement for graduating and Dawson and Cat. After my quick shower, I put on what Dallas would refer to as "Dick me down shorts" and one of his T-shirts. I quickly brush my hair then walk out to see Dallas fidgeting with a small black velvet box. What the hell? "I know you aren't proposing now," I say jokingly and Dallas looks at me with a shocked expression obviously unaware of me coming out of the bathroom, "N-no it's not," he says and I walk over to him, "What is it then," I ask and he opens it to reveal a small ring with a small opal that's an oval shape with a gold band, "A promise ring," he says and his eyes lock onto mine, "A promise that one day I will make you my wife," he says and tears cloud my vision, "Do you accept it," he asks nervously and I nod, "Of course I do," I say and he slips it on to my left ring finger then look up at me after removing some of the tears that had fallen down my cheeks, "You should really just move in you know," he says jokingly with a smirk on his face, "Why Dallas would you miss me," I retort and he chuckles as I lean in and touch my lips to his in a soft kiss.
