Two Months Later...

Today me and Ichiro are eating together today. Since I owe Ichiro, he asked me to make karaage chicken, a method of making small bite sized pieces of chicken that is different from western methods of frying chicken. It's different in that Karaage marinates the meat and only coated lightly with flour on it while fried chicken is given flavor by adding spices to the breading. It's pretty simple and I am starting to run low on cash for ingredients so I have no complaints. When I got a text from Ichiro saying that he'll be to the cooking classroom in half an hour, I cut the chicken thighs into uniform pieces and seasoned them with salt and pepper. I then put them in a bowl with soy sauce, grated ginger, minced garlic and roasted sesame oil. I would add sake to the marinade to help tenderize the chicken, but the school understandably refuses to supply it as an ingredient.

I left it to marinade and fifteen minutes later, I put some canola oil in a cast iron skillet and had it begin to heat up. Five minutes after that, Ichiro came in sweating from his club practice.

"Sup, I have the karaage marinating right now. Give me ten maybe fifteen minutes and it'll be ready." I said greeting him before beginning to get up and .

"Awesome. I can't wait." Ichiro said

I first went and checked the oil to see it's temperature. It was hot enough so I drained the marinade from the bowl of chicken. I then pulled out some flour and put some in a small bowl. I coated the chicken evenly with flour and once that was done, using chopsticks I put four pieces chicken of chicken in the oil and ninety seconds later, I pulled them out and put them on a wire rack so that excess oil would drain. I did this process with all of the chicken four at a time and when that was done, I fried each piece of chicken again until it was golden in color then put them on the rack.

Once it was done, I put them on a plate between me and Ichiro at the table with some slices of lemon.

"Itadakimasu." Me and Ichiro said in unison

Me and Ichiro ate with a little bit of talking. It makes me happy to know that Ichiro liked it so much that he was eating it quickly but I had to keep count of how many were left so that I still had some.

As we ate Ichiro abruptly said to me "So when are you gonna ask out Konoe-senpai?"

These past two months me and Kanata had gotten really close and once or twice I've met Haruka. I guess that we've been friends for long enough that I know her pretty well and know that it's actual love and not infatuation. "I need to build up a bit of nerve but I think I'll confess to her soon."

Kanata's Perspective

"Hey Onee-chan, what's for dinner?" Haruka asked me.

"I'm making steamed salmon tonight. Y/n and me were talking cooking and he gave me an idea that I want to use." I answered.

"You sure talk about y/n a lot Onee-chan."

"I suppose so. He's really kind and is passionate about cooking so me and him talk about that quite a bit. At least that was what he originally wanted to talk to me about more, but while we do still talk about it, we also spend time with each other talking about other things."

"Onee-chan, are you in love with him?" Haruka said curiously.

I ended up blushing and saying. "In love?" I thought for a moment "Maybe."

A/n: I'm sorry that this didn't come out yesterday but I explained the reason on my profile and because of it, I'll be busy but unless something really bad happens, I'll still make sure to get two chapter of this and a oneshot out per week.
