The Following Christmas Eve...
I finished my business back home in Iwama about three weeks ago and came back to the school immediately. I spent a bit of time since I got back hanging out with Ichiro but I've been spending a lot of time with Kanata and we celebrated her birthday together. Tonight we're planning to go on a date since tomorrow is Christmas. I want to make this day as special for her as I can.
Once the sun began to set, I got dressed in a pair of denim jeans, a (favorite color) shirt and a heavy (favorite color) jacket. I then walked over to where we were meeting up, in front of the train station. I waited for only a few minutes before I saw Kanata in her lavender colored jacket.
"Hey y/n" Kanata greeted and kissed me on the cheek.
"Hey Kanata, Merry Christmas," I said, pulling Kanata into a hug. I held out my hand for her and said "How about we go?"
Kanata took my hand and we headed onto the train headed to Shibuya to see the Christmas lights together. We took our seats and relaxed until we arrived at our stop.
When we got off, we started to walk and reached a street where they were holding the Shibuya Blue Cave Illumination. An illumination of lights in a park.
When we got there, the trees were covered from head to toe in bright blue LED lights which helped to turn the darkness into a beautiful display of trees seemingly made of blue stars.
"It's so pretty." Kanata said, enjoying the great view.
"Yeah, it really is, I've not really had a reason to go see these since I came to Tokyo for my first year. I'm really glad I got to see this for the first time with you." I responded smiling.
We enjoyed the beautiful view and walked among the humongous crowd. The blue lights shined so bright that everybody underneath them appeared blue.
I saw a small building not too far from here that was selling warm drinks. "Give me a second, I'm gonna go get us some hot chocolate." I said as I let go of Kanata's hand and headed over there. I bought our drinks and headed back to her.
"There's some benches over there, how about we go take a break and give each other our presents." Kanata suggested. I looked and saw the benches that Kanata mentioned which had a canopy on top to block snow.
"Sure, that sounds good."
We sat down besides each other on a bench and Kanata enjoyed our hot chocolate while leaning against each other, enjoying the other's presence. We finished our hot chocolates and as Kanata pulled something out of her bag, I pulled a present that I hand inside of my jacket.
"Here" I said, holding out a small rectangular box and offering it to her.
She unwrapped it and opened the box to see inside was a silver locket. "Thank you y/n. It's beautiful."
I smiled and said "Open it. You can put whatever picture you want inside but on the other side, I had a message engraved."
Inside, was a message that said " Just like you're always there for me, I'll always be there for you." Kanata's smile grew and she hugged me.
We stayed like that for a bit before Kanata let go and offered a rectangular box to me. I unwrapped the present and opened it to see that it was a sheathed kitchen knife with a five-yen coin alongside it.It looked pretty good quality and my main knife was actually gonna need to be replaced soon. I said "Thanks, I'll be able to get a lot of use of this."
We cuddled besides each other for a bit before we got back up and continued to enjoy the lights.
As we began to approach the end, I pulled Kanata closer to me and said "Hey Kanata, you've changed my life so much and I love you so much"
"I love you too y/n. I'm so happy I met you." Kanata said smiling
I took a deep breath and said "Kanata, after I graduate I plan to stay here in Tokyo so I'm gonna have to find myself an apartment and I was wondering if you would like to find one with me for us to live together."
Kanata gave me a kiss and said "I would absolutely love to."
We enjoyed the rest of the evening together before we eventually had to head home. I thought about the future and all I could do is feel excited for it.

A/n: This chapter takes place on Christmas Eve because I felt like that was such an intimate time for a date and I felt that would be best for what I wanted to happen in it.
