It's been three years since me and Kanata graduated from Nijigasaki and once I sold my old home in Iwama we got a place and started living together. Since graduation Kanata has been going to college while also working hard to improve her cooking. I've ended up going to culinary school and I'll be done in a month and a half.
After class, since I don't have any work today I am heading home and I soon get there. "I'm home." I say as I enter the house.
As I was taking off my jacket, Kanata came up to me and gave me a kiss before saying "Welcome home. How was your day?"
"It was pretty good but it's even better now that I'm back to you." I said as I pulled her into my embrace.
We went and sat down on the couch and snuggled with each other while we talked about what happened today. After about half an hour I start to get up to start dinner because I'm planning to make spaghetti bolognese for dinner the longer it can simmer, the better the taste will develop.
I headed to the kitchen and put a pot of water onto the stove to boil before going to put on my apron. As I put on my apron, Kanata came into the kitchen and said "What can I help you with?"
"Could you dice the onion and start sweating it with some minced garlic in the large pot with some olive oil? Also start browning the italian sausage in the fridge" I responded
She nodded and headed over to the fridge to grab what she needed. Once the water I put out reached a boil, I put in some tomatoes. I waited sixty seconds before pulling them out and drained and cooled them. Once that was done, I peeled the tomatoes and cut them into half and squeezed gently so that the seeds would come out. I cut the halves into quarters and once the onions had been sweated enough I added the quartered tomatoes to the large pot and brought it up to a medium heat. They started to release juices and once that juice began to bubble I pulled out a masher and began to squashed the tomatoes into the juice. I added some water and italian sausage before stirring the contents of the pot until it became uniform. I then put salt, pepper, as well as various herbs and checked the flavor until it reached a point I liked. I then put a lid on the pot and headed back to the couch to snuggle with Kanata more. I had to get up and stir occasionally but between that, Kanata and I snuggled and watched tv together.
Eventually, I decided about some news I got recently that's pretty important. "Hey, Kanata. I need to tell you about something."
She looked at me and asked "Well what is it?"
I took a deep breath then said "Well you see, I was given a chance to study my cooking abroad in France. I'm not sure if I'll take up the offer yet but this could be an opportunity to further improve my cooking."
Kanata smiled and kissed me "That's amazing! I know you haven't decided yet but if you do decide to go I want you to know that I'll be waiting for you right here."
"Thanks Kanata. Maybe I will take it."

Two Months Later...
Today is the day I have my flight and as I'm standing in front of the flight gate Kanata gave me a kiss. "I'm going to miss seeing you in person but we can at least talk over the phone."
"I'm gonna miss you too Kanata. By the way I want to say that since I met you my life has gotten better, you've supported me so much and I always thought that I wish I could show you how much you mean to me, and I feel like it's time to show it." I then got on one knee and pulled a small box out of my pocket. "Kanata Konoe, will you marry me?"
She began to smile and said "I'd be delighted to marry you y/n."
She held out her hand and I put the ring onto her ring finger before we began to hug and kissed each other. I wish that moment could have lasted forever, but I soon had to board my plane.
As the plane began to ascend into the air, I thought of how it was gonna be hard without Kanata but I just have to remember that when we get back, we can start planning our wedding and I'll be able to have Kanata as my beautiful wife that I can spend the rest of my life with.
