Third Person POV
A black and silver Dragoness was running as fast as she could, carrying her young daughter by her scruff in her teeth while her human mate was leading a black troll away from his family. Her sharp ears picked up the loud scream of her human mate and the black troll's roar. She knew then and there that her beloved...was gone. She shed a single tear, before her eyes narrow in determination to make sure her little one was safe. She keeps running and soon comes to a cave that had a tunnel inside as she runs inside the cave and down the tunnel. It led to a large cavern that was bowl-shaped and filled with caves that had natural ramps and paths leading to them and in the middle of the cavern was a large, sea blue and silver Heartstone. She hides her young one behind a large clump of the Heartstone.
"Melody, Mommy loves you, Daddy loves you. Melody be safe, grow strong, grow kind, grow loving and grow gentle, be safe and be strong my little Sea Star." the Dragoness says as she nuzzles her daughter who nuzzles back but doesn't understand why her Mommy was sad. The Dragoness kisses the top of her daughter's head one last time before taking off. She wouldn't let this evil troll get her greatest treasure as long as she could help it. She headed back, making sure to erase her tracks and the scent of her daughter as she went back the way she came in order to confront Bular and make sure he will never find her little girl. She covered the entrances with foliage so her little one could have an easy time to get out if she had to and then she runs in the direction Bular was in. She then stands tall in a forest clearing to face the Gumm-Gumm Prince alone, she prays to every deity that she knows that her child will be found by the Trollhunter and be given a home she can grow strong in. She and Bular glare at each other before roaring and charging toward each other, beginning a battle of monsters. He fought to take her down and she fought to make sure her little one would never be found by the likes of him. The very forest shook as their battle raged, the animals who hadn't fled yet doing so now to get to safety and avoid the two combatants. The dragoness battled as hard as she could but was soon too tired to keep fighting and Bular knocked her down and she looks up at Bular who was standing over her. He raises his clawed hand and swipes it down...
In the cave a few days later
Little Melody hadn't moved an inch since her Mommy left her here. She was hungry, cold and thirsty but she doesn't move in case her Mommy and Daddy come back. She barely had any energy to move anyway as she lays down in front of the Heartstone, waiting for her parents. She didn't know they were never coming back. She lays her head on her front paws and allows sleep to take her.
Kanjigar had found traces of the battles and had followed the scent of the Dragoness to the cave. He knew of the Dragoness, Lyra, called thus because of her musical ability and singing voice. He knew she was married to a human and he respected her choice since she was a friend to Trolls everywhere, except the Gumm-Gumms. He pushes the foliage away from the cave entrance, he knew that Lyra and her human mate Eric had a daughter, Melody. He knew Melody's parents were...gone and hoped the little one had not met the same fate. He soon comes to the cavern and sees little Melody, before he quietly walks over and kneels down. She was deeply asleep and looked so thin and small to him. He gently picks her up in his arms, being careful not to wake her up. She subconsciously snuggled into his armored embrace.
"I am so sorry, Melody. I didn't get there in time." he says softly as he carries the daughter of his dragon friend and her husband out of the refuge. He placed Melody down and covered the entrance with two boulders so Bular won't find it and it was only thanks to the added strength the armor gave him that he was able to do it. After he was finished, he dusted his hands off and picked the sleeping hatchling back up, before he begins to take her to the one place she'll be safe from Bular, Trollmarket. He knew it would be hard for her to adjust to and to get used to her new home, but he believes she can do it. If he can get her to Vendel, she'll be raised into a fine Dragon and he'll teach her how to be a warrior her mother would be proud of.
At the entrance to Trollmarket
Kanjigar makes a doorway to the entrance of Trollmarket, before he enters it. He walks down the stairway of blue crystals before he comes to the beginning of Trollmarket. The sounds cause Melody to stir and she blinks her eyes open. She looks up at Kanjigar and tilts her head curiously, she had seen him talking to her Mommy once so she knew he was a friend of her Mommy.
"Where Mommy and Daddy?" she asks as she rubs her eye tiredly.
"They...are not coming, little one. The bad Troll took them away." Kanjigar says to her sadly, making Melody tear up and she buries her face in his armored shoulder, beginning to shake as she cries.
"But I know of someone who will raise you to be a fine Dragon hybrid." he says and she looks up at him as he carries her through Trollmarket. He took her to Vendel and explains the situation to him, covering Melody's ears with his large hand when it got to certain parts. She didn't like it when he did though, having your ears pressed wasn't very comfortable. After the explanation, Vendel strokes his beard-like chin fur and holds out the hand and arm that wasn't holding his staff. Melody looks between the two adult trolls as she was gently placed into Vendel's free arm and she looks up at her new Guardian. Vendel looked into her innocent eyes and smiles, feeling a bond starting to form between them, a father-daughter bond. She was carried to her new home that she would be sharing with Vendel and he prepares a nest for her.
A couple years later
She was being picked on by a few Troll whelps for being different as she struggles to fight back. But then she remembered how a troll with a spiked back would scare his opponents and she makes herself as big as possible, puffing her chest out, flaring her wings to help make her look bigger and she inhales deeply before trying to roar, but what comes out is a loud shriek but it was an intimidating one for one of her size and age. The whelps see her glaring and she had a fire inside her now. The whelps knew better than to continue to both literall and figuratively poke the angry dragon so they git. She snorts and shakes herself, making her scales and hair lay flat, retracting her claws and then dusting herself off. She knew the Troll World was a hard one and you must be tough and fight to survive. She then feels a hand on her head and looks up at the spiky-backed Troll, she thinks his name and title are "Draal the Destroyer."
"Good job, young one." he says, patting her head before walking away. She fixes her hair from being messed up. She then knew she either had to get a hair cut or put her hair in braids to avoid it getting messed up. Luckily she found a book on how to self-braid her hair so she went back to her nest where she keeps a collection of crystals and had a large one to use as a mirror. She uses a brush to brush her hair first, before tying it into a high ponytail and then braiding it. She nods once she was done and was proud of herself. She was going to make her adopted Papa, birth Papa, Mama, her friends and the Trollhunter proud by becoming the best warrior she can be. She knew it would be hard, but she knew she could do it because she would be trained and ready before she would ever face battle. She didn't know in later years, she would come across the monster that took both her parents away from her. But that is a story for another day...
