"Maybe, if you can't get someone out of your head they were never meant to leave. Perhaps, they were meant to help change you into the person you have been waiting to become."

Pacing in the room with an annoyed mood, she again shot him a glare.

She was trying to contain her annoyance she felt due to his silence meanwhile gathering the courage to ask her cousin the question she was meaning to ask for a long time.

Sighing, she finally spoke up.

"Rizz, remove your eyes from the damn laptop screen and answer the damn question!",Naila almost screeched, almost making Rizz startle.

"That's too many damns for a sentence.", Rizz replied, gaining his composure.

Naila clicked her tongue in annoyance and this time, it was Rizz's turn to sigh.

"Shoot.", he finally gave up as he put away his laptop, pausing the work he had been doing since morning.

Naila, like a small child smiled in content as she settled beside Rizz.

"Okay, so.... Why are you avoiding her?"

Rizz cocked his right brow, pretending to be oblivious even though he knew who that 'her' was and why Naila was bringing this topic up.

Yesterday, when he saw Aria at the mall approaching towards him, he felt like she was a cool breeze while he was stuck in a desert.
He was seeing her after nine days, those nine days where he was trying to numb his soul, trying to wipe his memory lane and train his brain to not reminisce about Aria while begging his heart to finally give up and let the logical side win.

But all it took was one smile and one joke from Aria to crack all the pre-planning into nothing.
All the painstaking he did to push her away went in vain as he finally gave up and let himself immerse in her.

Those five minutes felt like a bliss until he let his brain overpower his heart again. It was as if his logical side was dominating again telling him he should he grateful for the five minutes he got to freely drown in her and with one snap he was yanked out from the moment, thrown into the darkness again.

"-yeah so we were waiting and this kid just treated her brother like a mop an-"

"I need to rush. See ya later. Bye."

This is how Rizz ended the conversation with Aria abruptly.

He could clearly see the hurt and disappointment on her face but he also noticed something else which he quite couldn't make out.

Little did he know it was the defeat that was plastered on Aria's face as she watched him walk away from her. Again.

"Rizz? Rizz!", Naila snapped her fingers infront of Rizz's face, snatching him out of his thoughts.

"I'm not ignoring her. Its just.... I can't match her energy.",Rizz shrugged which earned him a slap on the head from Yahya.

"You can't match her energy? Rizz, you both used to act like y'all drink fifty cups of espresso with some high energy drink instead of water whenever you used to meet so don't give us that bullshit.", Yahya warned.

"I was just being nice.", Rizz said lamely, his voice laced with hesitation as he himself knew he might me sounding too ridiculous to be true right now

"You riled her up. You talked to her first. You annoyed her first. That too in the first two minutes of meeting her. Seems like you were only being 'nice' to her.", this was Naila.

"You sound really ridiculous right now.", Rizz defended himself but Naila and Yahya weren't ready to let go this topic so easily  this time.

Yahya was now talking to Aaminah and he learnt some new information about Aria and Ziyadh's interest in her. Aaminah obviously didn't tell mention anything about Kabeer nor did Yahya mention anything about Rizz.
Yahya cared and loved his brother and after seeing the affect on Rizz that Aria held made Yahya more determined to get Rizz out of his dark cave and let him hold onto Aria.
