Chapter 9: Nephew

As Blackfoot came back from a patrol he went over to Brokenstar, "We remarked the border lines on the WindClan and ThunderClan border."

"Good" Brokenstar smiled, "I knew I made the right choice for deputy."

Blackfoot held back a growl then walked over to the nursery.

Suddenly a scent hit him. The scent… of a newborn…Kit!

He ran in the den, Wolfstep and Flintfang were sitting beside Fernshade, and at her belly…was her kit.

She looked up at him, "Come meet your Nephew" she smiled.

He slowly walked over and looked at the kit. He was black-and-white with a white stripe on his head.

"What's his name?" Blackfoot asked purring.

"Badgerkit" Wolfstep said proudly.

"Badgerkit…" Blackfoot bend down to give the little kit a gentle lick.

Badgerkit gave a little mew, then went back to suckling.

Flintfang purred, "The joy of having kits, is something I want to have before I die."

"So do I" Blackfoot looked at his brother.

"Blackfoot?" Russetfur poked her head in.

He turned around and followed her out, "What is it."

"We never have time to ourselves, anymore" she said tail drooping.

"Yes we do" Blackfoot tried to resure her.

"No we don't, your deputy now, you have an apprentice, your too busy for me."

Blackfoot's eyes widened, "I will never, Ever be too busy for you."

Russetfur nodded then pressed her face into his chest.

He rested his muzzle on her head, "How about tonight, we go into the forest, you and me and have a whole night together" he whispered.

She pulled away and looked up at him, "Really?"

He nodded, "Just you and me."

A grin broke out on her face, "Thank you" she whispered and slowly ran her touge up his shoulder near the scar he had.

He purred and licked her ear.

"Alright, I gotta go and orginize a patrol, bye."

He walked towards Blizzardwing who was with Dawnpaw.

"Hey Dawnpaw, you did so well training yestereday, I have decided to give you the day off" he told the small she-cat.

She gave a little bounce, "Thanks Blackfoot!"

Blizzardwing nudged his daughter away, "Dawnpaw, I need to talk to your mentor."

She ran off and Blizzardwing turned to Blackfoot, "What have you been doing with my daughter" he growled.

Blackfoot returned the growl, "I've been showing her diffrent Safe parts of our territory, I won't start any training until she is six moons old!"

Blizzardwing's eyes narrowed, "You better not."

Blackfoot moved closer to him, "I'm deputy, if you try and hurt me, you will regret it."

As Blackfoot walked away Blizzadwing snarled, "Is that a threat?"

He turned around and grinned evily, "Oh no, it's a promise."
