On the highway, Jaune had now left Green Hills and was heading somewhere else, mainly to get away from Robotnik.
"Okay, pal, I want answers." Jaune said, demanding answers from the Faunus. "Who are you????"
"Look, I don't think now is really the best time for introductions considering what just happened since I am in the most trouble i've ever been in my life." Sonic states
"Oh, you think you're in trouble??? You aren't the one who hit some crazed government roboticist." Jaune stated
"You think you're worried about this whole thing??? I lost my rings!!!" Sonic snaps
"Ring?? What are you talking about???" Jaune asked
"Okay, okay, rings, these specific ones I had, are how all advanced cultures travel between worlds." Sonic explained. "And now, MINE are stuck on top of a pointy building i've only ever seen on your tee-shirt."
Jaune looked at Sonic a bit before resuming to watch the road.
"So I want you to take me to San Francisco so I can get my rings back and use them to travel to the mushroom planet." Sonic states
"Mushroom planet???" Jaune questioned
"Yes." The speedster blue hedgehog Faunus replied
Jaune pulled the truck to the side of the road and opened the passenger door and said, "Okay, out you go."
"I'm sorry, what??" Sonic questioned
"Look, this is quite literally the WORST possible time for me to get into trouble. Now, please, go find your rings and your mushroom land." Jaune stated. "Hopefully i'm gonna wake up in a bed and this whole incident was all jut a dream."
Sonic sighed and got out of the truck but looked around and wasn't leaving.
"Why aren't you leaving?" Jaune asked
"I don't have any idea where San Francisco is." Sonic answers
"It's west." Jaune stated
"West?" Sonic asked
"Straight shot. Can't miss it." Jaune adds
"Alright, that's cool. I'm TOTALLY fine with saying goodbye now." Sonic replies before rushing off
Jaune went to start the truck back up until Sonic came back, practically soaking wet from the chest and upwards.
"I think you might have gone too far, pal..." Jaune whispered
"S, as I crashed into the cold, dark waters of Remnant, I realized a few things." Sonic says. "A, have no idea where i'm going, B, Salt water stings like hell when hitting it at high speeds, C, I shouldn't even be on this planet anymore but I am. Why?? Because you shot me."
"I know..." Jaune stated
"YOU SHOT ME!!!!" Sonic repeated
"I heard you the first time, you don't have to.....pile it on." Jaune says. "Good grief."
"I'm wet, i'm COLD, THERE IS A FISH ON MY HEAD, and clearly, i'm not gonna be able to do this on my own." Sonic quickly responded
Jaune sighed and said, "Okay, get back in the truck."
"Really? You're gonna help me??" Sonic asked, shaking himself dry and his quills and hair poofing out like an afro
"I guess it is a little my fault all this is happening to you." Jaune stated
"Not a little bit, it is entirely your fault." Sonic intercepted
"Okay, it's entirely my fault. You coming???" Jaune asked
"Yes." Sonic replied, shaking again and drying off and getting back in the passenger seat, putting the seatbelt on. "Road trip?? Whoop-whoop!!!"
"What am I doing?" Jaune quietly muttered to himself
Later, on the drive, Jaune had to set down some ground rules for the trip. After fully deciding hat they were gonna be, he had to bring them up to Sonic.
"Okay, on this trip, there's gonna be a couple of rules, alright?" Jaune starts. "Rule 1, do exactly as I say the entire time."
"Got it, Doughnut Lord." Sonic said
"Would you please stop with that?? I have a name." Jaune states. "It's Jaune."
"Well, i'm Sonic." Sonic replies
"Sonic....Sonic...Sonic....." Jaune ,utters to himself. "So you've been spying on all of us for years??"
"I mean, i wouldn't really call it spying, it was more like there was a big party only I was never invited and no one knew I was there." Sonic stated
"Wow, I can't believe that blue zip that made my speed radar gun go nuts was a Faunus." Jaune stated
"You should give that thing some sort of nickname to point out how super observant it is." Sonic replied
Later, at a gas station, it had gone dark and Jaune parked outside and got out, putting on a cap and looked back at Sonic.
"Okay, I want you to stay in the truck for now, when I get bac, we're gonna take a stop in that diner and get a meal." Jaune stated before gesturing to a phone booth. "I'm gonna go check in with Nora, see what's going on."
"You're gonna see Nora in that glass thing? What is it, a teleportation box??" Sonic asked in a joking manner, knowing it wasn't a teleporting box but didn't know it was a payphone booth
"It's a payphone, mostly for drug dealers and fugitives from the law, which we happen to be." Jaune replied, walking over to the payphone booth
Jaune pulled out some spare Lien, put it into the payphone, adn called up the Green Hills Police Department. Nor answering after a few seconds.
"Hi, Green Hills Police Department." Nora said on the other end of the line
"Hey, Nora, it's me, Jaune." Jaune started
"Hi, Jaune, i'm so glad that you called." Nora started, seeming nervous. "So, some guys from Atlas came in asking some questions."
"What kind of questions?" Jaune asked
"I don't know, something about arson and terrorism." Nora states in response. "I instantly told them that I have gone camping with you before. The most fire you can light is a small campfire."
Jaune rolled his eyes and said, "Okay, lsiten, this is VERY. IMPORTANT. Do not tell tem we talked, okay?"
After some silence, Nora spoke again.
"I think they already know." Nora responded
After some short muffling, Robotnik's voice came over the phone.
"Mr. Rose...." Robotnik said
"It's Jaune.....for the love of the gods, call me Jaune." Jaune stated
"I'll have you know the only other person to punch me in the face was a school bully. He hit me in the cafeteria causing a blood-forced contusion surrounding my orbital bone." Robotnik stated. "ANd you know what I did in response?"
"I assume you reported him to the person running the school cause you know, that kind of behavior is really unacceptable." Jaune responds
"Wrong!! I examined a deficiency in a world where braune trumped brain and used technology to resolve that deficiency. In fact, it's how I have a robotic arm." Robotnik said. "The teen ate his meals through a straw, for a year!!! And I never lost a fight again, until today."
"Well, hooray for me then." Jaune said, secretly smirking
"No, because you're about to become the bully with the straw!!" Robotnik snapped in response
Jaune got a bit of a concerned look on his face.
"I'm coming for you, Mr. Rose....and when I find you, i'll-" Robotnik started
At this exact moment, Jaune immediately hung up and pressed the refund button, getting a few Lien back before he went back to the truck to get Sonic.
