The following day, after Jaune's truck was repaired, Jaune and Ruby were in the middle of fixing up their house.
"You sure you got enough there?" Jaune asked, jokingly almost getting Ruby with his paint roller, getting a small chuckle out of her
Just then, they herd some knocking on the front door. So, they set their paint tools down and walk over to the door. When they opened the door, they were surprised to see that it was Blake who knocked, being in her White Fang leader uniform.
"Jaune. Ruby." Blake greeted
"Really has been a while." Jaune states. "How's the White Fang leader position holding up?"
"It's been good. We established a stable relationship with the Atlas Military two months ago." Blake replied. "Anyways, let's not drag on talking about unrelated subjects."
"Yeah, why are you actually here, Blake?" Ruby asked
"Right. The White Fang would personally like to thank you for the downfall of a specific member of the Atlas Military who had been a thorn in our sides for some time." Blake stated
"Oh, you mean that Robotnik guy?" Jaune asked to confirm that is who she was talking about
Blake simply nods.
"Well, we were gonna lose our files on him here in Green Hills now that he's sort of just vanished." Jaune stated
"How'd you even find out what happened with him recently?" Ruby asked
"Word of the incident spread quickly on the web, we asked his former assistant and that's pretty much how we knew it really happened." Blake answered
Blake held out her hand as a White Fang soldier handed her a couple of envelopes, which she then handed to Jaune.
"What's this?" Jaune asked
"A token of appreciation from us here at the White Fang and a sort of thank you gift from Weiss." Blake stated
Jaune opened the first envelope, the one from Weiss and it was an SDC gift card.
"Hm, an SDC gift card. Getting this kinda makes something the guy said a bit ironic." Jaune comments
When he opened the other envelope, the one collectively from The White Fang. In it was a couple thousand Lien to fix up the house.
"Wow, enough Lien to ix up the house and still have some left over for our own use." Jaune comments. "Thanks, Blake."
Blake nodded before asking, "You haven't been in contact with a certain hedgehog Faunus since the incident, have you? We'd like to have a sort of chat with him and see if he has full control of his Semblance and everything it can be used for yet, possibly brunch while having said conversation."
After some silence, Jaune finally replies with, "Oh, you mean the blue guy who sent Robotnik to another planet?"
Blake simply nods, indicating that is who she's talking about.
"No, not since he went back to his home island. Doubt we'll hear from him again for a while." Ruby replies
Blake hands them a sheet of paper intended to be filled out as she says, "Make sure the next time you see him, he fills this out."
"We will." Jaune replied as he grabs the paper and Blake left, shutting the door behind her
Jaune and Ruby walked back into the house.
"To be honest, I was expecting that if someone was to have come to talk to us regarding what we just went through that it was gonna be someone from the military." Jaune states, setting the paper on the counter
"Yeah, so was I." Ruby replies
Sonic poked his head up over the couch and asked, "So, you guys wanna watch a movie or what?"
"Sorry, bud, it's a school night. Time to head back to your cave." Ruby says
"What?? But it's 3 in the afternoon!" Sonic responds
"You know how you get when you're tired. Come on." Jaune said, gesturing to the attic stairs before noticing Sonic heading for the front door. "Hey, where are you going?"
"You said Ii had to go back to my cave." Sonic responds
"We did." Jaune said, looking at Ruby before the two both opened the attic stairs
When going up into the attic, it was a beautiful and lovely sight for Sonic. Everything from his old cave had gotten moved from the old cave and placed around the attic as if this was now a bedroom.
"Oh.....my....are you kidding me?" Sonic whispered with pure joy and amazement. "I-I can't believe it. It-It's....It's all here."
Jaune and Ruby stepped up into the attic with smiles just as Sonic ran around the attic, looking at everything that had gotten moved over. Eventually, he fell back first onto his race car bed.
"I love it, I love it, I love it!!" Sonic said as Jaune and Ruby sat next to him on the bed
"Well, bud, welcome home." Ruby says
"Thank you......so much." Sonic replied as the three shared a family like hug
Now, birds were all chirping, flying around, things were now somewhat back to normal for Sonic. No more crazy scientists, no more over persistent robots, and not even any echidna Faunus tribe hunters to try to kill him. It just makes him miss Longclaw even more and wishes he could have saved her.
