"One cheeseburger, one medium bag of fries, and one milkshake ma'am," The drive-in guy says handing the items to me with outstretched hands. I collect the items from his hand and drop them on the passenger's seat before stuffing my hand in my pocket, bringing out a couple of squeezed notes.
"How much is all this again?" I ask him straightening the notes out.
"Um, twenty-five dollars and seven cents," He says looking at a screen close to him before turning back to me. I continue straightening the notes in my hand while also trying my very best to not get bored doing this since I just started like a minute ago.
"Hey, I saw that guy hand over your order to you, move it" A driver behind shouts angrily, shaking his fists in the air while honking loudly at me. I take steadying breaths while straightening the notes on my hand. The driver behind continues to honk angrily and I can see from the drive-through guy's face that he doesn't want this situation to escalate. I continue to straighten the notes out while the driver behind keeps pressing that damn horn. Each honk driving me crazy, each honk giving me a reason to pick up my gun and stuff a bullet in his skull or probably just reverse my car and slam right into him, but that's something I know I can and will never do. Tatiana is my baby, I'd never scratch poor Tatiana for some nasty old man in a stupid minivan that the headlights probably don't work.
In case you're wondering, Tatiana is the name of my car, a red Dodge challenger.
What? It's a nice name for a car.
He honks at me one last time and I'm done.
If I stick around this guy will surely lose his life.
I squeeze all the notes in my hand and toss them at the drive-through guy, who scampers to pick the notes quickly, before pressing my feet on my gas pedal, setting the car into motion. I hear the guy still shouting, most of the words are inaudible but I know I hear him call me a female dog repeatedly, but I just ignore him, knowing quite well that if the tables were turned, he would be dead already.
I smile at the thought.
I take a deep exhale before I pull over at a driveway not too far from the drive-through and pick my phone from the back of my car. I tap on the screen of the radio area and it opens up a Bluetooth menu which I tap repeatedly, choosing different options until it's paired with my phone. I tap on Apple music and click on a playlist named "Fools and idiots" that I personally created to make my self feel better whenever I get pissed off by you know, well "fools and idiots".
I tap on Ariana Grande's 7 Rings and I follow the song, humming out words that I'm sure have absolutely nothing to do with the actual lyrics. I change my gear and press my feet on my gas pedal, pulling out the driveway and in no manner obeying the speed limit. I stretch my hands towards the passenger seat of my car and pick up the cheeseburger, taking one big bite out of it before putting it back down, once in a while taking my hand from the steering wheel to dance a bit to the song.
I know, risky.
I continue to hum along with the song, anticipation building up in me for my favorite verse, the second verse before an iPhone chime is the only sound I'm hearing on my speakers.
"Wh...Whob tha hell ish thish?" I ask myself looking down at my phone while chewing the chunk of cheeseburger in my mouth angrily. I sigh after seeing the contact and pick up my milkshake before I answer the phone.
"Maurice"
"Ms. Graves," The voice from the phone says making me roll my eyes.
"I'm still in college and you're way older than me, so please stop referring to me as a 'Ms' okay?"
