"Shut up Owen, don't tease me like that" Ivy smirked with a curl in her lip. He teeth perched out to lightly bite her lip.

"It's not my fault you are clumsy Ivy" He laughed, not able to hold it back. The two sat in the grass as the sun grazed Ivy's bright blonde hair, Naturally straight and long. He noticed her features with care and dignity,

He pulled out his notebook and began to write about her. He always wrote stories and became quite fond of writing. Sometimes just jotting down notes or creating fictional stories about his surroundings, but today it was about Ivy.

" Oh Owen such a poet" She said with sarcasm, She rested her head on his shoulder. They weren't lovers although it would seem like it. The two were best friends since the start. Neighbors luck would have it.

Classes were over and the sun was slowly dimming. The sun would slowly disappear like it was dying and rebirth the next day.  She exhaled a sigh and noticed Owen was staring at her.

"Hey" as he nudged her, "It's going to get dark lets go"

"You can, I'm going to stay a bit," she said softly. She knew she would leave soon but she would rather stay for a bit. Actually, she would rather do anything than go home. She watched him grab his bag and wave.

Her mind wondered what it was like to go home to a loving family and eat dinner all as one. But instead she got a father who tried his best but was always working and an abusive step mother.

Her mother left when she was young and it sent her father to work extra and never be home. She vaguely remembers her mother and only has a few possessions. A lump traveled down her throat as she brushed away her tears. She envied Owen, Oh precious Owen Waters.

Her eyes were heavy and slowly shut, Canceling the world around her and creating a whole new one. Her head rested slowly on the damp grass smudging her checks in dirt. She didn't care. Her body curled into a ball and her legs hidden under her light blue dress. Letting the breeze carry her into a soft slumber.

Sincerely, the girl who loved you back.Where stories live. Discover now
