Trigger Warning: Breakdown/Panic

Requested by history_twerp
I'm sorry it's short, but I've been having stressful days. I just didn't want to keep you waiting any longer.

It was dark outside, the street below my window being almost completely empty. Father had told me to sleep, but I found myself sitting at my window and staring outside.
Thunder roared over the city, and every time lightning lit up the dark for a split second, I thought a saw something. I didn't know what, it was always conceiled with the darkness, but I felt as if it was coming closer, ready to grasp at me at any moment, with thin fingers like sticks and a cold grasp like the wind-!
I felt my thoughts racing, and I sat frozen, my heart pounding against my chest wanting to be let out. Every moment felt like I was dying, I couldn't breathe, the creature's claws were already around my neck, and I didn't know what to fear more, darkness or the light...
Just when I felt myself getting dizzy, I managed to rip myself from the window. With a silent scream, I ran to my bed, stumbling into it and covering myself with the blanket. I lied completely still, fearing that if I moved, I might alert whatever was waiting outside... my throat wasn't letting me breathe, I couldn't see, I wasn't even sure who I was, was I already dead, how many seconds passed?!
The thunder outside was more than I could bear, I broke out into sobs and curled up, praying to whatever gods there were that I'd make it to tomorrow, to make it stop, to make whatever my mind was spinning to go away.
After a while, my head felt like it was about to explode, and a was gasping for breath, my lungs seemingly filled with water even though there was none in sight. Blood, perhaps? The thought striked me even worse, I started sobbing harder, praying to gods I never believed in, hoping that someone would come help me.

The minutes that followed after seemed like the worst minutes of my life. And while I lied frozen in my bed, sobbing and praying, I felt a hand on my shoulder. My first instict was to scream, but then my best friend's presence came through to me. I turned towards him, not able to see him through the darkness surrounding us but feeling the warmth and comfort coming from him. I reached my arms out to him, and he hugged me, I could feel his wings wrap around me like a protecting cover, making my panic wash away and fade slowly.
"Jack...?", I whispered quietly, feeling as he carefully picked me up. "Yes, Pip? Are you doing alright?" The familiar voice calmed me down a lot. "Where are we going?", I whispered. He brushed over my hair, signaling not to worry. "I'll bring you to your father's room, so you have company while I go take care of whoever scared you out there." "It wasn't just my imagination...?", I asked quietly, a shiver going up my spine. In the dim light of the hallway, there was a window next to us, I saw him softly shake his head. "No, Philip, it wasn't. But you don't have to be scared anymore, I'll go and take care of it.", he answered.
He quietly opened the door to my father's and mother's room, and then set me down on the bed between the two. "I'll be back soon", he whispered. "Be careful, Jack... it felt dangerous", I said. He smiled, something I couldn't see in the darkness but I knew he did nontheless. "Don't worry Pip, I'll be just fine." Seconds later, I heard wings flapping and I felt a light breeze coming from the window, signaling he had flown off. Comfortably, I cuddles into the blankets. Knowing Jack would keep me safe, I drifted off easily.
