Daichi found a knife and what looks to be a diary. He examined the knife and realized there were bloodstains on it. The diary looked a little old and worn. It had a leather cover and it was kind of small. The pages were crinkled in some spots, showing this was used fairly often.

Daichi opened the book and the second he read the first page of it, he realized that maybe Hinata isn't as happy as he seems.

Dear Diary,

My little sister, Natsu, just passed away today. She was diagnosed with a heart disease last spring. (It's early fall in the next year.) It was like the world stopped turning. After a couple of hours of sitting in silence on the couch with Father, Mother came home. Tonight I would never look at them the same again.

Father was screaming at me and then my mother struck me with a blade and her bare fist. Now I'm sitting in bed with a bloody nose, blood coming out my mouth, cut up skin, and a bruised stomach. Oh shit! I think I hear Father coming!

From,

Hinata

Daichi just sat there in a mix of sadness and shock. He couldn't believe what Hinata had written. Why hadn't he told him sooner? Just then there was a knock at his door. Who could be up this early?

He opened the door and there stood Hinata with red, puffy eyes. "H-Hey Daichi," Hinata said. To Daichi, he looked so fragile, like he could break if you touched him. "Please, come inside," Daichi ushered. Hinata nodded and walked in.

"Why are you here so early?" Daichi was clearly worried and a little confused.

"I forgot my bag, and since you were the last one in the gym, I thought you might have it."

"Oh, here it is," Daichi started, "but you should stay the night. It's pretty late."

"Sorry, but I should probably be heading home."

"No, I insist."

Hinata sighed. He knew he wasn't going to win this fight. "Fine." You could practically see the happiness and relief in Daichi's eyes. Daichi knew that if Hinata went back home, he would be beaten. "Let's go to bed, but in the morning I need to talk to you," Daichi stated. Hinata tried to disagree, but he yawned before he could get a chance.

Daichi laughed at this. "Come on," he said while leading Hinata towards his room. "I hope you don't mind, but I have only one bed. I'll sleep on the floor if that works."

"No, you can sleep on the bed, I'll sleep on the floor."

"I won't allow you to sleep on the floor."

"I guess we can share the bed. You don't have to, though."

"Sounds like a plan."

They walked into Daichi's room, and Hinata couldn't help but look around. The room was quite simple. It had a bed in the middle of the room. There was a desk against the right wall and a dresser on the left.

Hinata just noticed he stopped in the doorway when Daichi said, "Are you going to stand there the whole time or go to bed?" Hinata turned red from embarrassment and walked over to the bed and crawled in.

Daichi was already in the bed when Hinata got in. After a couple of minutes, Daichi could hear cute, little snores coming from Hinata. Daichi had had a crush on Hinata when they first had a practice game against Nekoma. The way Hinata wanted to keep playing amazed Daichi. When Hinata was snoring Daichi couldn't help but bring the sleeping boy to his chest and keep his arms around his waist while he fell asleep. He liked how it felt o know Hinata was safe in his arms where nobody could hurt him. Soon enough, he fell asleep listening to those reassuring snores coming from the sleeping sunshine.

They slept like that all night. Hinata woke up the next day (Saturday). He felt something around his waist, but he ignored it. His arms tried to push himself up, but he was pulled back down. "Stay." Hinata looked up and saw Daichi looking down at him. Hinata burned a bright red. "Daichi, what are you doing?" Hinata asked still flustered.

"Sorry, you were just so cute and warm, I couldn't help but cuddle you," Daichi said laughing a little.

Hinata turned in the opposite direction of Daichi, playfully pouting his lips. Daichi laughed at Hinata's behavior. After a couple of minutes, Daichi got up to make breakfast. Hinata walked out soon after him. As soon as he walked into the kitchen, he was hit with a glorious smell. "Mmmmm."

Daichi was just setting the table when Hinata walked in. "Now that breakfast is ready, we need to talk."
