Chapter 20

*Lily*

I wake up to Twyla screaming at me.

"Lily! Get yo' butt down here!"

I groan and almost fall out of the tree I'm in. I quickly climb down to Twyla and see that Liam is down here too. Apparently I missed the invite.

Twyla looks really excited about something. So I say, "Vat do you want!"

She smiles and says, "Liam figured out to get to Handtred!"

I'm suddenly very awake and happy.

"Well! How?" I say, grinning.

Twyla is suddenly nervous and rocks back and forth on her heels.

"Well.... Liam why don't you tell her? You thought of it!" she says and steps behind Liam. Almost like hiding behind him, hmm.....

"Liam, tell me," I say calmly but while putting my hands on my hips.

He shoots a glare at Twyla and says, "I suggested getting horses."

I thought about it for a second and said. "Yeah, that will totally work! It'll make the ten day hike a three day ride!" I keep smiling until I realized something.

"And how do we get these horses? I know our funds and horses that we will need aren't cheap!"

With my outburst, Liam sighs.

"That's the part Twyla is too scared to say," Liam explains. "You see, I think that we could steal some to take to Handtred to find the last guy in the prophecy. We do need to leave this place soon, you know."

I sigh and run a hand through my hair saying, "I know, I know. I guess it would also solve the problem, but do we have to steal?"

Liam sighs and moves forward, putting his hands on my shoulders.

"Lily, the guy I have in mind to steal from is a jerk with no family and that hates everyone, even his own maids and workers. He doesn't care for anyone but himself. I'm not going to make you steal from anyone who can't afford a lost or doesn't deserve it, okay?"

To be honest, his voice calmed me down and his logic made me nod my head and say, "Okay, but I'm not hurting anyone. Got it!"

At the last part I raise my hands and voice while pointing at him.

Liam chuckles and says, "Okay, okay miss hothead."

I stomp my foot like a child and frown.

He once again chuckles at me and says, "Okay, so the plans to steal them are over here-"

Twyla quickly cuts him off by saying, "There right here!"

Twyla hands me some sheets and I start to look over them carefully while asking, "So, who exactly are we stealing from?"

"The man's name is Terry Smith, better known as Mr. Smith the jerk-wad. He lives a little outside of the city in the direction we're going, which is north by the way," Liam tells me.

I nod quietly and say, "Explain to me the layout."

Twyla starts at the entrance.

"Well," she says, "this is the entrance and his main house he lives in is a little inwards with the stables by it. What we'll do is, we'll get in the entrance, have you create a small fire by the main house, and then get horses and get out."

I nod and try to take it all in.

"So, how are we gonna get in the entrance?"

Liam laughed an said, "Well, my dear Lily," this got him a glare from me but he just shrugged and continued, "I snuck in there all the time to get scraps from the workers and maids, they're all really nice by the way."

I nodded and accepted his story and asked, "So, you're getting us in, I'm starting a fire, and them we're leaving?"

Twyla nodded in response and grinned at me. Liam just nodded his head wildly having a happy look in his face.

"How many people will go? How many horses will we be able to get?" I ask as my list of questions just continued to grow.

Liam starts on his fingers before saying, "There'll be about six horses there, so we only really need six people."

"So who?" Twyla chimed in.

"Well, me, Lily, and you Twyla will be going, so who else?" Liam asked.

"May, Rose, and Dan."

The answer came with no absolute hesitation from my mouth.

Twyla nodded in agreement saying, "Yeah, Bronie is a nerd and we already have one for this mission, Ben is still in no condition for something like this, Ella needs to make sure Ben doesn't do anything stupid, and Lucas is just...... not as good as the others at fighting, really."

We all share a nod and notice that we did and laugh.

It felt so right to be here, being with my friends, old and new. I just wanted a moment like this forever.

I'm snapped out of it when Liam and Twyla are heading off to tell the others.

I hurry to catch up.
