"jesus I forgot how much I hate mornings"
A now 15-year-old Kayda sighed loudly spreading out on her bed the size of two king beds.
Yes, it's a bloody big bed. And yes, she did convince her father to get it.
"my wings can't stretch out, the beds to small!"
"I don't care, deal with it" he had snapped.
Plan B in action
"but...I think it's starting to effect my training..."
Nothing more had to be said.
In all honesty she didn't really need a big bed, she just really wanted one and can't seem to sleep in a small one. Kayda blames it on her dragon tendencies and having an excessively large sleeping place with piles of fluffy pillows is one of them.
Shoto calls it the dragons lair. As another thing dragons do is hoard shiny things. To sum it up you could turn it into a store with the amount of stuff lying around. From shiny rocks and pebbles to random pieces of metal, anything shiny enough to her liking immediately found a new home in her collection.
After some time of staring at the high embroidered ceilings she worked up the motivation to roll gracefully out of bed and greeting the floor with her face.
"Mmmmfmfmmmfmfmfmfmfm. I. Hate. Mornings! Why did I have to wake up this early again?"
Face still mushed into the floor her brain slowly remembering how to brain.
What was it? I think it was important. Its definitely not for training. I stopped wasting my precious sleeping time on getting up for that trash can ages ago. Is it my birthday? Wait do I need to feed my fish? Yeah, it's the fish. Wait hang on I don't own any fish....or do I? Can't remember. Maybe-
"OOOH SHIT!" Kayda propelled herself with a massive flap of her wings onto her feet. "OOOH SHIT! NOT GOOD, NOT GOOD, NOT GOOD".
In one practiced movement she somersaulted to the other side of her bed and pulled on random sport clothes, making sure they covered her scars. Grabbing her lucky rock, she sprinted out her room still half asleep but with some sense of direction.
Running past Shoto's room, his door closed. Still asleep.
I guess that's what you get for being recommended. Lucky bastard.
Reaching the kitchen, she found her older sister Fuyumi sitting quietly drinking tea. She almost spit it out in surprise when she looked up to see a panicked, still waking up, Kayda breathing heavily.
"Wait aren't you suppo-?"
"YES!"
"Isn't it start-?"
"YES!
This time she nearly tipped her whole cup over.
"OOOH SHIT! OOOH SHIT! YOU GOTTA GO! LIKE GO RIGHT NOW!" Fuyumi shouted as she grabbed a milk box and an apple from the bench.
"YES, I KNOW I GOT TO GO!" Kayda retorted. Slipping on her shoes quickly, she turned around just in time to catch the small breakfast Fuyumi had yeeted at her from across the hall.
"Ok Kayda good luck, your going to ace it. And please, no matter how much pressure your under don't- "
Break focus. Lose control.
Her scars prickled in discomfort.
"- and remember to eat your goddamn breakfast" Fuyumi said hurriedly.
"Yes ma'am, I promise! Thanks Yumi I'll make you proud!"
And before her sister could say anything else Kayda raced out the front door and leapt into the air. Powerful black wings unfurling around her, she shook the stiffness out of them and took to the sky.
It's finally happening.
Kayda smiled excitedly, stabbing her milk box and taking a large gulp while looking down on the many estates below.
This is my chance. My one shot at becoming a hero. A better one than my father.
Her stomach did nervous and happy back flips as she spotted the place where her dreams will come true, getting closer and closer.
I'm going to UA.
