Chapter 2

A piece of paper was in his hands as he made his way towards the hokage's office. Team Kakashi had returned to the village about 30 minutes ago and it was Yamato's job to submit the mission report while Kakashi and Sakura brought Akira to the hospital. Naruto went with the hospital duo, and Sai went with Yamato.

Reaching the door of the office, Yamato knocked as Sai stood quietly behind him. A faint "come in" was heard and he opened the door to find Tsunade in her seat, desk stacked with piles of papers, and her apprentice, Shizune, right beside her with her pig, Ton-ton. Acknowledging his co-jonin, Yamato nodded at the younger medical ninja as she smiled a greeting at their direction.

"Yamato, Sai," Tsunade calls the two men, "where are Kakashi, Naruto, and Sakura?"

"They're at the hospital right now, Lady Hokage." He answers and presents the file he had in his hand. "We've come to give you the report about the mission."

Tsunade reaches out to take the paper and nods as a response to what Yamato has said. "I take it the mission was a success then."

"Yes." He answers, "No casualties happened. Although I think it's important to note how bizarre it was that every personnel from the hideout were dead."

Narrowing her eyes, Tsunade crosses her arms to think. "And Akira? How is she?"

"Sakura said she was in perfect condition, as in no poisons, injuries, and wounds anywhere in her body." He says, "Kakashi-senpai also said she was conscious for a few seconds before we travelled back. She was asleep the entire journey."

"Interesting." Tsunade could only nod, implying that she understood. "I want to hear from her myself." She stands up, "I'll read the report and seal it later. Now, let's go."

"Yes, hokage-sama."

The hospital was not as busy as usual. Sure there were still patients being brought in, but no one was in panic and the atmosphere seemed serene compared to most days. As of the moment, Naruto and Kakashi were sitting on a hospital bench just right outside the room where Akira was resting. Sakura and another medical ninja were inside, checking her condition once again just to make sure they had not missed any injuries that needed immediate treating. Aside from that, they were doing final changes to the room before allowing visitors to come in.

While waiting, Naruto had fallen asleep with his mouth open on Kakashi's shoulder. The poor lad was tired from doing two consecutive missions in one day and it wasn't even dark out yet. He wasn't required to come to the hospital and stay with Kakashi, but upon hearing that the woman they just saved was his sensei's lover, he decided he wanted to show support for Kakashi because of the thought that it must've been hard for the man to have his lover taken away.

Speaking of Kakashi, he was silently reading his favorite book, Make-out paradise, but he wasn't digesting the words like he usually does every time he rereads it. Instead, he was simply reading the words and letting them exit his mind without being processed. In short, he was absent-minded. Whether it was from worry or exhaustion, Kakashi couldn't seem to take anything to heart right now.

Soon enough, two figures appeared on his peripheral vision from the right and he immediately closed his book and put it inside his vest. Asuma and Kurenai were walking in his direction, a bouquet of 'get well soon' flowers in the arms of the latter. The duo smiled at Kakashi once they got closer to him and Asuma was the first to speak. Pointing to the door with his thumb, he asks, "She's in there, right?"

"Yeah."

"How is she?" Kurenai asked.

"She's okay. Just asleep is all."
