~Third Person POV~

"WHAT!?" yelled Kaz, and for a moment the roiling beast of hate that was always coiled just beneath the surface was unleashed in his eyes at the name. The crows were all shouting and even looked a little worried, but the demigods were just confused. "There's more," replied Annika, who was visibly cringing, terrified of Kaz's wrath, and turned to Wylan, "Jan Van Eck escaped prison last night," At this Wylan flinched and Jesper put his arm around his boyfriend, trying to comfort him. Kaz took a deep breath and then said in an icy calm voice that was almost scarier than when he was yelling, "Annika, have all the dregs on high alert, Inej find them, where they're hiding if they have any support, details. Di Angelo, you go with her. Jackson, I want you at the harbor, keep track of all the ships, do not let Van Eck escape. Chase, go to my office and wait there, and don't touch anything. As for the rest of you, back to the Slat, and keep a lookout for anything suspicious." They all nodded grimly, although the demigods still had no idea what was going on and it was clearly driving Annabeth crazy. With that Kaz stalked off into the night, crow cane tapping on the cobblestones and the telltale glint of a knife at his belt.

~Kaz POV~

Kaz limped to his nearest safe house, this one in the sewers beneath Ketterdam, and looked at a map of the city he had tacked on a wall, trying to figure out where his old enemies could be hiding. Eventually he decided it was time to check on his various sources of information around the city, a long list of people he had blackmail on, or were indebted to him for one reason or another. As he limped down the streets, people scrambled out of his way like a river parting around a rock as he struggled to maintain his facade of icy calm when inside he was seething and was itching for a fight. He was walking through a narrow alley which stunk of blood, sweat, and children's tears when he thought he heard a noise. Kaz spun around, cursing quietly, he had been so wrapped up in anger he hadn't noticed he had a tail. As he turned warily, searching for whoever was trying to jump him, a figure stepped out from the shadows "What business?" Kaz called out, feigning a confidence he didn't feel. The only people with any sense who would dare try to jump or rob him was Pekka Rollins' gang, the Dime Lions, or pigeons, and usually not even then. The man laughed nervously but said, "What else but revenge? Revenge... and money," he said as a mad glint came into his eyes. Kaz mentally sighed in relief, it was just another wannabe pigeon or low-level gang member trying to make a few extra kruge. "Move along, I don't have time for this." Kaz replied, irritated. "Unfortunately for you, I'm not giving you a choice." the man yelled, confidence flooding his posture. Kaz heard a muffled thump behind him and his eyes widened in realization, he whipped around and caught a quick flash of red before everything went black.

~Frank POV~

I have no idea what the Hades is going on. We're staying in a city in an alternate World where thieving and stealing and killing is normal, there are no rules and the laws are jokes, there is no order whatsoever, and our 'host' the evil genius (according to the Dregs anyway) is missing. Worst of all, we all have to work over time to keep Percy from getting angry and Leo from getting too excited because the entire city is filled with rotting, extremely flammable wood and the air is so moist and the walls so damp it's nearly impossible to get warm for everyone except Percy, and if he gets angry he'll control all the water in the air and surrounding the island and destroy the whole city (probably) without meaning to. I feel totally out of my depth and the only thing keeping me from breaking down completely is Hazel, and the lack of rules is horrifying and foreign to me as a Roman Praetor and someone who has followed orders in the Legion for most of my life. I'm still not sure who the Pekka Rollins guy is, all I know is that when his name was mentioned, Kaz looked so angry I thought he would pull a Nico and summon a few skeletons with McDonalds, (do they even have McDonalds here?) to tear us limb from limb. Anyway, he was apparently missing and everyone was starting to worry, although Jesper said this wasn't uncommon for Kaz and he should be back by tomorrow night.

I was worried about Kaz. I remembered only too well what had happened with Nico and he was only 12. Kaz is 17, the same age as me, and I have a feeling that he has gone through just as much, if not more tragedy as Nico, only without the help and support of Camp Half-Blood. I just prayed to the gods that he didn't have a sister, because if he did, I don't even know how Nico would react. Either way, Kaz disappeared two days ago and we haven't found a trace of him since, although Inej and Nico have been scouring various nooks and crannies for a clue to his whereabouts. Anyway, it's almost dinner time and I need to go to the Kooperom with Nina, Jesper, Wylan, Matthias, Inej, and the rest of the demigods for waffles, although I don't see the point since they're not even blue. I mean, if you're going to have waffles for dinner, at the very least make them blue, but judging by the weird looks I got from the other Dregs, I guess that's not a thing here. I need to have a serious talk with whichever god, I'm guessing Hermes, made this world and tell them to add some dam blue food.
