The Watcher In The Woods

We were in the lounge and Kevin was explaining what happened last night just as Archie entered. "It was full-on Carrie. Midge covered in Moose's blood, screaming like a banshee. It was insane." Archie questions Kev. "Kev, what were you even doing there? You could have been shot to." "I was just night-jogging, you know, as one does. Suddenly I hear gun shots." "Can we at least agree now that there's a killer on the loose." "With terrible aim."

I look down when Jug says that and Betty must have noticed because she sent a glare Jug's way. Archie continued. "Jughead, he murdered Ms. Grundy." Betty takes her arm from around me and says "Arch, we don't know if there three crimes are related." Veronica looks at me before saying "Guys, can we focus on what matters here? Midge and Moose are alive. Archie and Sky's dad and Sky survived. The new season of the Matchlerette starts tonight. You're coming over to watch."

Jug looks at her and says "There's a shooter terrorising the town. You really want us to watch a gross reality dating show?" "What I really what is for you guys to meet my dad officially. Back in New York, my dad was always in his study, doing bad things, as it turns out. I'm tired of closed doors. I need to know my dad's life and he needs to know mine." Betty says "Well, we'll be there, V. Can't wait." "Thank you."

"Ok I have one question." "Sky, if this what I think your going to ask-" "He is on a long list Veronica of people who tried to kill me and he is on a new list now as well." They gave me weird looks. "Look, the time Kev's dad called me out is to tell me that my siblings and my dad got out on bail. I have been doing a list of who could have done it and there is not that long of a list but Hiram is included in it as well as the Black Hood." Archie snaps his head in my direction when I mentioned the Black Hood. "Why is he on it?" "Because Arch the Black Hood tried to kill me in Pop's so my guess is he bailed them out just to give him the upper hand and also the help to kill me so I am sorry V but I will come to yours after he has left."

With that I rushed out of the lounge.

I waited until I saw Hiram and Hermione Lodge left before I went upstairs. When I opened the door all eyes were on me. I sat down on the Jughead's lap.

We were in the middle of watching the reality when my phone started ringing and it was from and unknown number. I excused myself and went to the other side of the room before answering.

"Hello?" "Hi sweetheart." "Dad. How?" "Your on loud speaker so they other two can hear." "Who did it?" "If you mean bailed us out then let's just say there name starts with B and it's a cover name." "I knew it. Why?" "To finish off of job with just one person. You." "Where are you guys?" "Closer than you think." "What do you mean?" "We saw you go into your friend Veronica Lodge's home. I can hear your watching the Matcherlette." "If you are in this house, I swear." "What Sky?" "You don't wanna know." "Is that a threat." "Nope it's a promise."

The line went down and I turned around and saw they didn't hear anything. Then there was a lock on the door and I ran over avoiding the weird looks. I opened it and sure enough it was James, Laura and Paul. I closed it immediately but James put his foot between the door.

"Go away." "Sky. Let us in." "Not if you are going doing what you said on the phone." "Well, of course. We made a promise and we are keeping it." I looked at the group. "Please help guys." "Sky what's going on." I was about to answer when the door opened wide and I got slammed into the wall. James starts to talk to me.

"You didn't tell them?" "I did not get a chance before ye came busting in the door. Get out." He bent down to my level. "We made a promise. We are keeping it." I stood up scared and go over to the others who were confused. "Who let you guys in?" "That's not your concern." "Fine if you're done please get out before I get you out." "Why don't you come out with us." "Is that the only way you will go?" They nod there head and sigh and leave out the door without looking back.

Once we were outside I turned to them. "If you want me then you have to find me." They were confused so I took that as advantage and started to run towards the Whyte Wyrm and stay there for the night.

I picked up on the the Riverdale Registers and started to read the letter from the Black Hood.
It said "This is the Black Hood. I am the man who shot the adulterer and Serpent Queen at Pop's. I killed the child predator in Greendale. I shot the drug- and sex-addicted teenagers at Lover's Lane. Riverdale is not innocent. It's a town of hypocrites, degenerates, criminals. My wrath is the price of your lies, your secrets, your sins. I will not stop. I cannot be stopped. I am the wolf. You are the flock. This is the blood-letting. You will hear from me again."

I was in the Whyte Wyrm reading that and many others were reading the same thing. I am not going back to the North Side for school today or tomorrow or I don't even know when because of this letter I don't feel safe and Paul and the terrible twins are out there and I don't feel safe.

I went to check out where Jug is working in South Side High. I opened the door and everything looked dusty and they were covered. "Oh. So this is the famous Red and Black that Toni told me about at the quarry." "Sky. You cannot be here at night unless you are armed." "Well, I am." I pulled out my pocket knife and pepper spray.

Jug gets up from his seat and says "Okay, honestly? I hit pay dirt. Do you remember how no one could explain the local component of Clifford Blossom's drug pipeline? The jingle-jangle, the stuff Moose and Midge were on? It's coming from here. I know that my dad and you said that Serpents never deal in hard drugs." "But the Ghoulies do. Trust me I know." He nods in agreement. "Well, is it wise to be writing about gangs and drugs while you're going to school here? I mean I know how the Ghoulies get and everyone literally knows now that I'm Serpent Queen because of the stupid letter from the Black Hood."

"Are you worried about me?" "Well, yeah, Jug." "I thought you liked me reckless." "Of course I do." We leaned in and met halfway and crashed our lips together. Then the doors open. It was Toni Topaz. "Oh, sorry, guys. I didn't see the sock on the door." "It's okay Toni. Heh."

Jug says why Toni is here. "Toni is the photographer for the newspaper." "Knew those photography skills would come in use some day Topaz." "I could the same with your singing Q." "Have you talked to the Serpents?" "About why your avoiding the other side of the tracks. Q, I don't know how to say this but I saw all of them outside the school."
Jug looks confused. "I swear they are psycho and Juggy we are talking about the people that crashed out meeting at V's." We stayed talking before Toni and I left for the Wyrm.

I got a call from Toni the next morning when I woke up from my bed in the Whyte Wyrm. She told me to go to Jug's trailer so I did.

When I got there I saw he all bet up. "What happened?" "It's nothing." I told Toni I got him so she left. "Jug, this isn't nothing. Was it the Ghoulies?" He nodded. I got the first aid kit and started to attend to all his cuts and bruises. "If this hurts, I'm sorry okay?" He nods. I did all the cuts and he winced a few times and every time I just apologised because I felt so bad. Once I had them done I told him I am chancing going to school so I left.

Those kids in the fairy tales who go into the woods they don't ever come back the same. They're always changed in some fundamental way. Sometimes for the better. More often for the worse. That's the common misconception about fairy tales. They very rarely have a happy ending.
