His Beauty and Her Beast

Evangeline Swan woke up from the nightmare she keeps having. Today was her first day of school and Evangeline was not ready for it. Getting out of bed, she walked to her closet. She grabbed the outfit she was wearing for the day and got dress. She closed the closet just to be faced with the mirror.

"Eve! It's time for you to go."

Evangeline sighed as she left. Her mind on the person in the mirror. Broken and lonely.  She grabbed her jacket and left without greeting Charlie as she wanted to get the day over with. Charlie looked and sighed. He hates seeing his niece like this and hopes she can be herself again.

When she arrived at the school, all eyes went to her car. "Great." She mumbled as she pulled into a parking spot. She pulled her hood over her head before climbing out. Everyone watched as she walked by avoiding eye contact.

Evangeline felt her heart beating fast. She tried to calm down, but knew she needed to get inside and away from the stares.

Jasper sighed at the feeling he felt from the human. "She's scared." Jasper tells them. "I wished to know what makes her scared."

"I already know." Alice tells them. "She was the girl Carlisle had to do surgery on."

The others looked towards the door. Klaus didn't care as he just wanted to be far away from the humans. Edward looked at Alice and knew. The new girl is Klaus's mate.

Inside, Evangeline walked out of the office looking at her schedule. She was trying to memorize her classes when she bumped into someone. "I-I'm so s-sorry." Evangeline tells them. "I-I should h-have been paying a-attention."

"It's okay." Klaus replies as he helped her. "I didn't see you myself."

Evangeline looked up and met his eyes. Klaus saw the bruise on her face and became enraged at the person who done this. "Thank you." She said.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

From the doors, the other Cullens were watching. They saw Evangeline and Klaus talk. She nodded. Klaus watched her leave and looked at Alice. "What happened to her?"

"I think that will be her story to tell." Alice tells him. "Whenever she is ready to talk."

Klaus nodded and walked off. Alice sighed and knew this was not her place to tell him. It's all up to Evangeline Swan.

Throughout the first half of school, Evangeline mostly stayed to herself. She was afraid of everyone basically. She walked into the cafeteria and found an empty table. She took a book she has been reading to help calm her nerves.

Jasper tried to send the poor girl calmness, but it was like she was fighting it off. "She's fighting against me." Jasper tells them. "I think she doesn't remember how to be calm."

"Whatever happened to her that landed her in the hospital has got her scared." Edward said. "Her mind is a mess and I can't clearly read it."

Klaus looked at her and at Alice. "What is she to me, Alice?" He asked.

"She's your mate."

Evangeline smiled as she preferred her time to herself. Calming down and reading a good book. Klaus was in shock to hear he has a mate. He look back at the table Evangeline was at and wished he knew what happened to her and who done this.

Evangeline finally made it to her last class and was extremely happy. School was almost over meaning she gets to get away from prying eyes. Klaus watched Evangeline walk into her last class. He walked in to see her sitting in the empty seat beside his.

Everyone watched as Klaus Hale took he's seat. Whispers throughout the class about him and the new girl. "Hello, Evangeline."

She looked up and nodded. "Hello, Klaus."

Everyone just stared as Klaus wasn't telling the girl to move or glaring at her. It surprised at how calm Klaus was being about Evangeline being beside him. The two were taking notes as they never once looked up at their classmates.

"Make them stop staring." She mumbled.

"Can you all turn around and stop staring." He tells them with a glare making all eyes go towards the front terrified of his stare.

Evangeline smiled a little and went back to her work. Klaus didn't say nothing as he wanted Evangeline to feel safe around him. He wanted her to trust him.

When the bell rang, Evangeline was gone surprising Klaus. He followed after her to see she had made it to her car. Klaus knew she was scared and decided that tomorrow, he will help her feel safe.
