Chapter 2

Hello everyone! I really hope you're enjoying the story so far, even if there's only two chapters haha!

"Slytherin!"

My whole body froze. Did I just hear that right? Of course I did, I'm a Riddle and a Lestrange of course I'm a Slytherin. 

I looked around at the crowd sitting at the tables in front of me. My eyes searched the Gryffindor table and saw the spot where Ron, Harry, and Hermione were sitting. Ron glanced at Hermione, while Harry whispered something to the two of them. Fred and his brother looked at each other and then up at me. There goes any chance of me making friends this year. 

I felt someone nudge my shoulder and looked up at Professor Mcgonagall. She motioned for me to join the other students at the Slytherin table. My legs felt like jelly as they walked down the long aisle. I looked back at the Gryffindor table where Harry is looking at me disapprovingly and Ron and Hermione have a look of pity on their faces. I hold back tears as I find a seat at the very end of the table. 

I try to listen to the new teacher's, Professor Umbridge's speech, but I just can't seem to focus. I'm too busy thinking about what lies ahead for me this year. Maybe I can try to befriend the Gryffindors again or maybe there's some Slytherins that are willing to take me into their friend group. But if they hangout with Draco, then I doubt it. 

After all of the announcements were made, food appeared on the tables. Everyone gasped in awe and the chatter started. I sat in silence, pushing the food around on my plate with a fork. I didn't really have an appetite when I was worrying about everything going on right now. 

Sometimes I wish my parents weren't serial killers. I take that back...all the time I wish my parents weren't famous death eaters that everyone is afraid of. I wish I just had normal parents and a normal life, not one where I get sent from death eater to death eater until they decide they don't want me. 

Soon everyone started to leave to head back to their dormitories. I decided to head back with a group of Slytherins that were leaving. I went up to one of the girls in the group, she had shiny blonde hair that swished side to side when she walked. 

"Um, hi I'm Aurora, I'm kind of new here, I was just wondering where the Slytherin common rooms are?" I said rubbing the back of my neck shyly. 

"Hey! I'm Daphne, Daphne Greengrass. Just follow m-" she was cut off when her name was called by someone from behind us. We turned around to see Pansy and another girl behind her. 

"Daphne what are you doing talking to her?" Pansy looked me up and down like I was a piece of garbage. 

"Oh, um, nothing." Daphne's whole mood had changed and she was acting like Pansy now. All three girls exchanged looks and then walked away, not looking back once. 

Luckily a group of first years following a prefect were heading down to the dungeon and I was able to tag along with them. Tears were threatening to leave my eyes the whole way. Just as if my night couldn't get any worse, when I got to the Slytherin common rooms I found out that I had to share a room with Pansy and her friend, Millicent Bulstrode. 

I got ready to go to sleep and climbed in bed. I just wanted to close my eyes and forget everything. I was so close to making friends today, but of course now they don't trust me because I'm a Slytherin. I shut my eyes and drifted off to sleep before Pansy could come in and make my day even worse. 

I woke up the next day with determination to have a good day. I got out of bed and threw my uniform on. I grabbed my books and headed down to the dining hall. Not a lot of people were there yet, so I was able to get a good seat at the Slytherin table. While I was eating a piece of toast, I saw the trio walk in. They looked my way and I took that as an opportunity to wave to them. Hermione and Ron waved back but Harry never even looked in my direction. They headed to their table while I basked in my small achievement. At least Hermione and Ron don't hate me. Maybe I can get through to Harry in some way. I could think about that later but for right now I had to head to my first class, Potions.
