Whomping Willow

Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. I swear they're out to get me. Call Ron a sniveling fool once and suddenly you're a "big meanie". I can't believe I'm stuck cleaning up the Whomping Willow all because Dumbledore has a little grudge and Potter and Wesley crashed their car. Flinch's useless insults and rude phrases targeted at them aren't helping either. Luna offered to help me but I needed her to hold my spot in quidditch tryouts. God forbid I miss quidditch tryouts too. I already missed meeting Gilderoy Lockhart. I just wanted too see if he was stuck up or if he really was as perfect as the others said. The Whomping Willow was really pretty. The black lake is too.

Potter was so lucky he got to go into the forbidden forest. He gets all the Finn detentions. Here I am trying to clean oil off of temperamental tree. Honestly they acted as if I had volunteered, they better keep that headspace when electing prefects. The Whomping Willow really isn't that bad. I was ranting to it and it was helping me collect the broken car parts. Even so, whenever I would get close to its branches it would lash out. It probably just didn't want me getting too close to it. I wonder what it could be hiding in its branches. One day I'll find out, afterall what else could my animagus form be useful for. Defeating Voldemort? Please that's Harry's job. If he's going to have any type of superiority complex he's going to earn it.

Ten minutes till tryouts end. I shift into my ice phoenix form and meet Luna outside the quidditch tent. I see Oliver Wood, Fred, George, and Harry talking. Gryffindor tryouts are after Ravenclaws.

"Good luck Silvers" Cho Chang says.

"I'll need it" I say almost forgetting I hate her.

I see Draco Malfoy and Pansy Parkinson snickering on the quidditch stands, probably to make fun of Harry. It's funny because I hate Pansy as much as Cho. I don't even know why. Her existence annoys me.

I get on my Broomstick after meeting with Flitwick. Time to be the next Ravenclaw keeper. I missed the initial try out game but since I blamed it on Dumbledore they allowed me to try out on my own. I did loops and difficult turns. I just had fun with it because I had one minute to show them they needed me on their team. Right, I should actually be serious then. I stop laughing and start doing stunts on my broom with a straight face. I stand on my broom jump off of it and before everyone watching has time to register what I just did I do a few rolls in the air and land on my broom. Luna helps me by throwing a bunch of quaffles at me, which I block easily. I do a few more tricks but I have to save a few for the field.

Once I land I'm thoroughly pleased and shocked by what I just did. I knew I was good but I didn't know I was that good. Even Fred was surprised and he's the one that helped me practise most of those tricks. This is why I bought such a misleading broom. My broom looks like a sparkler stick, it has a very decorated tail and it's one of those models that's more useful for poking someone.

"And you wanted to be keeper," Flitwick says to me.

I always feel so disrespectful when I talk to him because I'm quite literally looking down on him.

"Yes sir," I say.

"Well you have the spot, uniforms will come in a week,"

I'm so excited I hug Luna and Fred. I hug Harry and George too. Oliver is just standing there still stunned from that one trick where I jumped off the broom. I go over to hug him and I say "I can't wait to beat you".

I leave with Luna but before we're out of listening range I hear Oliver say something to the others.

"Are you sure that's Fred's girlfriend. Seems a bit out of his league," Oliver chimes.

"You didn't think that before seeing her quidditch plays," George says.

"That was when I thought she was normal. Do you think she would teach me some of her moves?" Oliver asks.

"I reckon she'd teach you all of them," Fred says.

"Yeah, after she beats you in a few games. Tricky like that," Harry says.

"Are we talking about the same person? We all know she'd teach you the tricks after she absolutely dominates the field in all of her games," Fred says proudly.

After I listen in on their conversation I can't help but smile with Luna.

"Picked a good one," Luna says.

I spot Nevillle in the corner of the stadium and point at him.

"And here comes yours" I say, shoving Luna towards him.

"Why are you so keen on me dating him?" Luna smiles.

"Obviously so that I can make fun of you in the same way you make fun of me and Fred," I say.

Ron barges past us, Hermione follows shortly after him.

"Do you think he'll get the spot?" Hermione asks.

"With your help, I'd be surprised if he doesn't appear in a bunch of quidditch magazines tomorrow," I say.

"I'm not going to let him cheat,"

"Right, of course not," I say, short and sarcastic.

I head toward Neville again with Luna. Malfoy intercepts us before I can though.

"Loony, scary. I saw you tryout just now and I'm willing to let you teach me a few tricks," Malfoy says.

"I'd love to, just bring me a note from your father saying it's okay for me...a ... what did you say umm 'blood traitor' to teach you the rich and powerful D. Malfoy how to not suck at quidditch. Wouldn't want to get sued if you get a paper cut, you know" I say.

"You're really infuriating, you know," he says.

Is that his response to everything?

"Your aura must be bouncing back to you," I contort.

"Well-" Malfoy starts.

"Siiilvers you haven't completed your cleanin duty yet. Do I need to call Dumbledore?" Flinch says.

"Please do. I have some things to say to that old, elderly looking, boggart sniffing little-" I say following Flinch back to the Whomping Willow.

Me and Flinch have a bond really. We share the same hate for Dumbledore and I do prevent the twins from pranking him too often. Nonetheless I still hate him.
