Stepping out of the shower and feeling fresh after using my coconut scented shampoo and body wash, I walk back into my bedroom and see my phone blinking on the edge of my nightstand. Wrapping up my hair in a towel, I pick it up and see that I've received close to a hundred messages - surely more game request noitfications than actual birthday greetings. I scroll through them. No doubt the first one is from my best friend.
FROM: BFFjenny(: Happy birthday bff! i luv u forever! Will call you soon! p.s. remember, funky buddha tonight! dress sexy(;
Oh yeah, Funky Buddha. I guess that's the club where we'll be going to tonight. *scroll*

That's what I call Jennifer's parents now, my UK mum and dad. I know it's a bit crazy but they've been like a mother and father figure for me since I last saw my own. I push the memory of them aside... *scroll*

I sigh staring blankly at the screen. A tug at my heart is pulling me to a place I've tried so hard to bury deeply inside the empty darkness that is my pain. Two years. Swiping the screen, I end up opening one of my many locked messages - tears already brimming on the edge of my eyes.
FROM: KingOfMyHeart<3 Happy birthday my love! Jennifer will be picking up the gift I sent you. She promised she'll hold on to it for you so call me as soon as you get it! All my undying love. Forever yours, E.
Tears are now full-on streaming down my cheeks.They seem impossible to stop and my heart is crushed again into a million pieces. I shake my head furiously wiping at my stained cheeks and throw the gadget against my bedroom wall. With a loud thud, it falls to the carpeted floor.
