LIAM’s P.O.V.

I step out of the shower cold and fresh, wrapping a towel around me. I walk out to my balcony and admire the view of the city that is so brightly lit. I think it would be a nice night to go for a walk. As I am watching businesses open and others close, I hear my phone ring.

FROM: ALEXIS You can thank me later. So be good to her little brother!

She told me she was going to be sending me some photos from Savannah’s celebration but I can’t help noticing there’s only one attachment. I open it and a smile instantly spreads across my face. It’s a photo of Savannah and I taken at the club. She looked so beautiful in the black dress she wore and it did her justice accentuating her curves. Her rich dark hair falling in waves to her lower back. She was simply beautiful in her own elegant way. I saw something spark in her brown eyes but her lips alone were enough to pull me into a trance. I had to look away a couple of times to snap myself out of the dream I was falling into.

Without a second thought, I save the picture to my phone and reply to Alexis, thanking her for sending it to me. Walking to my closet, I unwrap the towel around me and dress into dark faded jeans, my favorite batman t-shirt and a black leather jacket. It is a good night to be in the park. However, it will be much better to be there with someone.

I decide to walk there since it’s only a few blocks from the apartment. Also, because it would give me more time to think of what to say to Savannah. Reaching the park, I see couples hand in hand so obviously in love, mums cooing their infants and fathers carrying their children on their shoulders – people just enjoying the cool, quiet nightlife of London.

It is still early when I pull my phone out to check the time; seven o’clock. Thank goodness. I feel nervous as my thumb hovers on her contact number. Just do it Liam. One ring. Two rings. Three…the wait is killing me. Four. This feels like an eternity waiting. Five rings…she's probably not home.

As I’m about to end the call, a voice comes through the receiver, “I WAS SLEEPING.” It’s clear I woke her up but I can’t help to laugh.

“Good evening to you too Ms. Cruz.” I wonder what’s made her so tired that she decided to go to bed so early.

“Oh. I’m sorry Liam. I wasn’t really…” I disrupt her before she could continue.

“Wait, were you really asleep Cruz?” It’s awful how I’m openly teasing her but I can’t help it. Like I said, I haven’t been able to get her off my mind unless I’m working or there’s a lot on my plate. I have to keep myself busy to actually not think of her but its too hard. Her simplicity mesmerizes me and I feel like I need to learn more about this young woman.

She explains to me that she was about to fall asleep when I called, so I apologize for preventing her. She doesn’t seem to mind that I did though. I go on to ask her to meet me here in the park and she agrees after I ask her for the second time. She did not seem to believe it at first and it is nerve wracking when I hang onto the few minutes when I wait for her arrival.

I stand under a tree and wait anxiously for Savannah which only makes me think that she’s probably changed her mind about meeting me. After all, she doesn’t know me too well except that I’m Alexis’s cousin. Nevertheless, my mood changes when I spot her walking away from a shiny black Audi. She looks nervous and I hope it’s because of me. She walks towards the pathway clearly searching for me. I decide not to walk to her yet so I pull my phone out to send her a quick message.

TO: SAVANNAH.CRUZ I see you Miss Cruz.

Her lips pull into a smile and she pulls a strand of her hair away from her eyes to tuck it behind her ear. She reads the message and her eyes dart up to search for me again. I giggle at the scene in front of me and send another.
