We arrive at the club and climb out of my sleek, black Audi. Jennifer hooks her arm through mine and nods at the bouncer as we get closer to the entrance. It’s still early when we walk in and I notice there are a good amount of people looking like they were already tipsy. Jennifer continues to walk, pulling me alongside her to the corner of the club before she sees some familiar faces in view.

It’s a little dark for my eyes from where I’m standing from to even really make out who’s who. I see a lightly rugged, dirty blonde twenty-five year old looking man sitting alongside a blonde woman to his side sharing a conversation with two other women and another younger fellow with rich dark hair sitting between them. The blonde-haired woman I do not recognize but the other four I could never forget.

Jennifer squeezes my hand and whispers into my ear, “Let’s see if they notice you alright love?” It seems like they’re looking around the club for someone, but only the gaze of the dark haired fellow stops on me.

He quickly stands up from his seat pushing his way out, eyes never leaving me. The four others give him a confused look but look around to see what made him get up. Jennifer is laughing to herself now because she notices that he never looks away from me, which only makes me smile more. In that second he stands in front of me, he doesn’t say anything. We immediately pull each other into an embrace, not saying a word.

He pulls back to look at me but doesn’t release me from his hold. “S…”.

“Hi C.” I say smiling. He pulls me into a hug again and I let him.

“Happy birthday S. You don’t know how much I’ve missed you.” I hug back.

“I’ve missed you too C.” I come close to crying when we hear a voice behind us.

“Come on Charlie, don’t hog the birthday girl all to yourself now. We miss her too!” Sam. I can never forget his deep voice.

“Yeah Charlie!” Another voice yells. “Come on now love, let go of her. We want to hug her too.” And another. Gemma Johnson and Alexis James; my two very good friends from uni. I turn around to be squeezed into one big group hug.

“Oh my goodness, Jennifer! Help!” I playfully yell. She laughs and tries to pull us all apart.

“Alright, alright! Let’s not suffocate the birthday girl just yet!” We all break apart and they all still look at me. Jennifer hooks her arm through my left while Charlie takes my right.

I look towards the table and turn to speak to Sam. “You know you need to introduce me to your little friend right?” I wiggle my eyebrows playfully. He nods as we both stand together in front of the table now as everyone begins to take their seats.

He pulls the blonde up to stand next to him. “Darling, this is my best friend, Savannah.”

“Oy! She’s my best friend you!” Jennifer yells at him.

“Shut up Jennifer! She can have as many best friends as she wants. As I was saying, before I was sooooo rudely interrupted…” he says obviously referring to Jennifer and she flicks him off sticking her tongue out. “Love, this is The Miss Savannah Jace Cruz. But you can call her ‘S’.”

He turns to me. “S, this is Desiree Elise Jacobs. Soon to be Desiree Elise Jacobs-Smith.” I look at him confused, still processing what he just told me. He notices my confusion and adds, “My fiancée.”

Whaaaat???

*Cough, cough* I feel like I’m choking for no reason, standing there wide eyed looking at Sam and…and his…fiancée. “Oh my god!!! did you just say fiancée?!”
