Mitch was at the recording studio working late so Scott was in charge of putting their children to bed. Jaxson who was 8, Natalie who was 5 and Sara who was 16.
Scott walked into Natalie and Sara shared bedroom. Sara was on her phone scrolling through insta and what not "Sara, phone down. Did you both brush your teeth, wash your face and what not?" They both nodded and before Scott could walk out the room Natalie said "can we have bedtime story? I always sleep better with a bedtime story."
Sara rolled her eyes "aren't you too old for a bedtime story?" Scott sighed and walked to Natalie's bookcase "what story would you like to hear? Um....little red riding hood, Cinderella?" Natalie shook her head "can you make up a story?" Scott bit his lip in consideration.
"Ok." He then called out "Jaxson, do you want to hear a bed time story?" They then heard pitter pattering of feet. "I'm here Jaxson said as Scott got cozy next to Natalie in her bed as Jaxson got in her bed as well at the foot of her bed.
Scott looked at Sara who was back on her phone "you listening Sara?" Sara rolled her eyes "I'm not a kid." Scott rolled her eyes and turned back to Natalie and Jaxson "Once upon a time in a land far far away there were these two teenagers who went to the same highschool." "Boys or girls or one boy, one girl." Jaxson asked.
Scott thought about it "well, what do you think?" Natalie chirped up "two boys." Jaxson nodded and Scott laughed "ok then, two teenage boys. One was a jock, big and buff and the other was choir nerd. The other loved music and performing and the Jock hated that so he took out his anger on the Choir nerd." Jaxson gasped "why?"
Scott shrugged "because he was angry that the choir nerd was himself and proud of it and the Jock had secrets." Natalie sighed "that's messed up, what happened next?" Sara groaned "ugh, if you stop cutting him off then maybe we'll find out."
Scott smirked in her direction "I thought you didn't wanna listen to the story." Sara rolled her eyes "just keep going." Scott nodded "now, where was I." Natalie spoke up "with the Jock bullying the nerd." Scott nodded "right, well..one day the teacher paired them up together for a class project and neither of the boys were happy with it. In fact they asked for different partners."
Jaxson, Natalie and even Sara gasped. Scott spoke again and said "One day the Jock and the nerd were working on the project when out of the blue the Jock confessed his feelings to the little choir nerd but the little choir nerd hated he jock and they got into a huge fight." Jaxson yells "noooooo!" Natalie pouts "did they ever make up?" Sara gasps "please tell me there's a good ending." Scott was about to continue when he saw Mitch leaning in the doorway, smiling at the sight.
Scott smiled and said to the kids "well, one day...the two teen boys crossed paths again and started talking and realized they had so much more things in common then they thought. They both could sing, they both had one best friend and lived a happy, fulfilling life. The end."
All the other kids noticed Mitch at the door and Natalie said "hey papa, Dad told us a really great bed time story about a jock and a nerd." Mitch smiled "did he now?" He then walked more into the room and gave a kiss on Natalie, Sara's head as he tucked them in.
He then went to Jaxson "now you kiddo, need to go to your own room. Goodnight girlies." Sara and Natalie both say goodnight and Scott tuck Jaxson into his own bed and Scott and Mitch give him a kiss on the forehead "goodnight." He smiles and rolls onto his side to go to sleep.
When Scott and Mitch go into their bedroom Mitch sighs as Scott pays down "what?" Mitch looked "nothing." Scott rose an eyebrow "you sighed, which means you do have something to say."
Mitch got into bed next to Scott and cuddled into his side "it's just that, do you think they were ready to hear about how we met?" Scott sighs "they don't know that that's our story." Mitch nods and places a kiss on Scott's lips "I love you." Scott does a content sigh "I love you too."
