Seeing My Reflection

The first time Tiffany met him was at the welcome ceremony, the first day at university. He sat a few sit away from her, fidgety and nervous. Her first impression of him was he not somebody special and maybe not even worth her time.

The second time they met was in class a few days after the welcome ceremony. It turned out they took the same major, business. Her impression of him still didn’t change, still nothing special, he just your typical diligent boy.

A week after that Tiffany found out they have more than one class together but they still barely talked. The first real conversation they had was in the half of second semester, when the professor putted them in the same group of two. He was shy and nervous when he introduced himself (not that he needed to, they maybe never talked but Tiffany knew his name and he also knew her name) and Tiffany actually found it cute. The time they spent together to finish the assignment were surprisingly nice, they talked more with each other and even after the project finished they still talked. It safe to say they became closer.

“I think he’s too nice for you.” Yuri once said when she noticed how close they became. Tiffany actually realized that. It wasn’t that she admitted she wasn’t nice, but she knew she could be selfish and spoiled. It actually shown at the time they worked together, how she often came late at their meeting and wanted things to always go her way. It irked him (she knew that and she didn’t really care) but he still patient with her. Still gave her a kind smile and that actually made her began to respect him.

When he confessed to her, she said yes. She wasn’t in love with him actually. She likes him but she didn’t love him. The reason she said yes was because there was no reason to said no. She was glad she made that decision though, because the boyish smile he gave her after that actually made her lost her breath.

At the beginning of their relationship, she disappointed him a lot. She still selfish and spoiled and yet he still really patient with her. He still kind, he still forgiving, and that made Tiffany surely but slowly began to fall in love with him. Things began to become better after that, she learned to treated him better but there still a time when her selfishness came out. “It’s not always his fault, Tiffany”. There was a time when people told her that, didn’t stop her to get angry at him though. Surprisingly, despite all of that, they still a happy couple. Too bad, nothing last forever.

Silent, silent, and more silent. She can hear the sound of bird chirping, the loud voice of kids playing, the laugh of people that walking and enjoying Saturday afternoon, but she hears nothing from the person beside her.

It’s already been a week and a few days since their last confrontation. She didn’t talk at all with him since then, until the call he sent her this morning. And now, here they are. Sitting side by side at a bench in a park not so far from her apartment and none of them say anything.
