Natalia's POV

I walked into the house where a maid is kindly waiting for me with a towel. I smiled at her and thanked her before she walked off to continue her duties. Beginning my journey to Enzo's office, I wrapped the towel around myself, trying to get warm.

When I made it to the doors of Enzo's office, I awkwardly waved at the two guards who stood at either side of the door. They nodded a greeting before opening both doors for me. I shuffled into the office to see Francesco sitting on the black couch in Enzo's office. He smiled warmly at my appearance before his eyebrows scrunched in confusion.

"Hello, Natalia."

"Hello, Mr. -" I stopped myself, then corrected. "Francesco."

He chuckled at my nervousness, but I couldn't help it. Francesco is a powerful man. Sure, he is super sweet to me, but the way he carries himself is intimidating. His presence in itself screams power and dominance, even when he's smiling.

Plus, I'm super nervous about what he could want to talk to me about. I hope I didn't do something wrong already.

"Why are you soaking wet?"

"Your son pushed me in the pool," I sighed.

Francesco sighed and disappointedly shook his head, rubbing a hand over his face. I chuckled at his reaction to his son's antics, finding their father-son relationship sweet. Francesco seemed to chuckle with me too as he mumbled something along the lines of "Of course, he did."

Our laughter halted when I heard the doors of Enzo's office open. Expecting Enzo to walk in, I didn't bother turning around. When I noticed Francesco tense and heard heels clicking on the hardwood floor, I curiously turned my head in the person's direction.

My eyes widen as I come face to face with an enraged Kiki. I push my lips together to stop the gasp from leaving them at the sight of her face. Her eye is swollen and black. She has a nasty cut on her lip, and her nose is crooked.

I cringed at the sight of her face, feeling guilt begin to eat away at me. Sure, she told me my parents died to get away from me, mocked me for not having a mother, and put her hands on me first, but I shouldn't have reacted so harshly. Although, a small part of me is proud because I stuck up for myself for once.

"Kiki, what happened to your face?"

My eyes nervously fell to the floor at Francesco's question. I didn't even look at him, not wanting to know what his reaction will be if Kiki tells him what happened. She smirked at my frightened face, which only made me even more uneasy. I feel like I'm finally becoming part of a family and I might have already ruined it.

"Well, Francesco, this bitch attacked me for no reason," Kiki whined.

I finally got the courage to look at Francesco, and I wish I didn't. He is now standing, glaring sternly at Kiki as he seems to be analyzing the situation. I nervously bit my lip in fear that he would scold me for what I did, or worse, kill me for it. I did hurt one of his and Enzo's members of the mafia, so I have no clue what his reaction will be. Francesco cleared his throat and then opened his mouth to speak, but I fearfully cut him off.

"I'm so sorry. She was-"

Francesco held his hand up, effectively shutting me up.

"It's Mr. Romano to you Kiki," Francesco spat. "I hope I didn't just hear you call your soon-to-be Donna a bitch. She is also your boss, and you will treat her as such."

I stared at Francesco in shock, jaw slightly ajar. Did he just stand up for me? I'm genuinely amazed. I didn't think he'd defend me and my actions without even knowing the details of the situation.
