"So what did the letter say?"

I was back at home with Stacey, in our small apartment. It had been about a week since Ernesto and I kissed, and I hadn't seen him since. I wouldv'e only seen him at work, personally, but Stacey hasn't had him over anyways.

"Oh," I held up the letter from Michigan to her. "This?"

"Duh!"

"Its an acceptance letter to Michigan."

She popped a strawberry in her mouth. "I don't think I can ever forgive you."

Did she know about Ernesto? Oh my gosh, she would kick me out of my own house. No, there's no way she wouldv'e known. He promised he wouldn't tell. We made a deal. If he did, he would be disowned for that. Maybe thats why he hasnt been coming around?

I nervously laughed. "For what?"

" For not going to state, that's why. Michigan sucks ass."

"Oh please, who even says I'm going here? This is just the first invitation of many."

My phone buzzed on the counter.

"Hello?... Aw.. are you sure?... okay.. I'm coming."

"Hey.. they're calling me into work," I said to Stacey.

-------------------------------------------------

"So what was the big emergency?"

Mr. James came around from behind his desk to meet me.

" I've got big evidence on that case, with the boy, Ernesto! I have cold evidence!" He flew the file around in the air.

I stood up from my chair. "That's great! What did you find?"

"Well... What I did find isn't exact in his favor..."

He handed me the file. Inside contained documents and pictures of Ernesto, presumably smoking marijuana. In the other pictures were security stills that showed him stealing from various stores.

I looked up at Mr.James absentmindedly.

"So how do we make him look innocent?"

"We don't. We just make the other party look more guilty." He plopped the file on my desk. "This is a big case. Can you organize these files for me? I need you to get right to work."

------
It had been three hours of me doing paper work, and Jose had called my phone thirteen times.

I want nothing to do with him. But he did save my life... No! It was his fault that I was even hospitalized! Just bad vibes all over.

My phone buzzed again, sitting on top of my desk. I already knew who it was, and slid my finger across the screen to decline the call.

Not but a minute later it rang again.

Let me just get this over with.

"Hello?" I answered, annoyed.

"Dylan?! Oh thank God you answered! I was so worried. Why haven't you been answering my calls?" He asked over the phone.

"Because, if you could take a hint, I obviously don't want to talk to you."

"Why not?" He is such a dimwit.

"Jose! It's your fault I was in the hospital!"

"But I saved you..." He commented.

"No! If it wasn't for your crazy ex- girlfriend we would've never even been in that position! I bet she followed us there too!" I yelled.

"Look, I've talked to her and sorted things out." He tried to assure me.

"You talk to her? Oh my goodness, why do you even still have her number?"

"Look I only talked to her to-"

"No! Don't talk to me! Go back to Lydia!"

I hung up on him and threw my phone in the drawer in my desk.

He didn't call again.
---
As I was turning the key, I heard the sound of a movie coming from the living room.

"I remember my first pair of shoes, mama said they was my magic shoes." The sound of Forrest Gump was coming through the thin door.

I finally got the key to turn and made a mental note to get new locks.

I shut the door and dropped my purse down.

"I see you have on my favorite movie!"

Stacey laughed. "Yeah!"

I went in the kitchen and grabbed an apple, and plopped on the couch. It was only then I realized that Ernesto was sitting on the couch too.

Stacey gave me that look, you know, the look that tells you, ' get away from me, and stop being a third wheel look'? Yeah, well that's the look she gave me. I took the hint and left them alone to watch the movie without me.

My guilty conscience was eating me alive. How could I let her lay in there all cuddled up on someone who was unfaithful?

HELLLLOOOO EVERYBODY

It's been like two weeks, and I apologize. Literally I had the chapter written, and just then my computer thought it would be fun to die. Then I re-wrote it, and the page exited. Fun.

But alas, here it is, all written and pretty!
