Dylan POV-Before The Accident
Earlier on, I agreed to go out with Jose. I actually don't know why that happened. I must not be in the right mindset. I went from hating him one moment to loving him the next.I grabbed for Jose's hand.
"Gah!" I stumbled on top of the slippery ice. "Jose! I'm gonna fall!" He chuckled while straightening me out, and balancing me.
"See, I told ya, It's way harder than it looks." I gave him a skeptical glare,
"Isn't it?" I skated over to the fence on the side. "Well, ice skating ain't all its cracked up to be".I waddled over to a bench where some other people were sitting, and tried to unlace the skates.
Trust me, even that is a lot harder than it looks. The skates feel about ten pounds on each foot, and I almost cut myself eight times, not to mention when Jose tied them on me, he tied them too tight, and now I couldnt even get them off.
Jose glided over with ease . "Done already?'' He shook his head in contempt. "Man, we've only been here for like, 2 hours!"
I stopped unlacing my shoe at that. "Yeah. Two hours too many. I'm cold, and ready to go." I finally pryed one skate off, revealing three layers of weird fuzzy toe socks, and still couldn't feel my toes. One from the cold, and Two, from those tight skates.
"I'm going to go turn in our skates." Jose said. He expertly untied my shoe and his in under a minute and walked sock-foot to the counter. In the mean time, I tried to warm myself up, rubbing my hands together, and sitting indian style on top of my feet.
Looking out into the crowd, I began to worry. What if somebody from school saw me here with Jose? That would be disasterous for both of us.
After a few moments of worrying, I noticed a new face studying me. She began to walk my way, switching her hips as if she owned the place. In her hand she held a starbucks coffee and in the other, her phone. She never even looked up to see where she was going.
She stood in front of me for a few seconds, finishing her last text message, then she finally looked up.
"Oh my gosh," She tucked her phone into her pocket. "You just have to tell me where you got that scarf!"
She reached out to touch my scarf, but I turned my head away from her.
"I'm sorry, do I know you?" I speculated her up and down, she looked a little shady to me.
" Ugh! Like, so sorry. " She shoved her hand out for me to shake. "Lydia Springer."
I shook her hand furtively. "I'm Dylan."
"Nice to meet your acquaintance. Now you've just got to tell me where you got that scarf!" She sat down next to me and blabbered on, and on about forever 21 and H&M and all these other crap stores that I could completely care less about. In the end, she never even got to know where I got my scarf from. To be completley honest, I wouldn't even be able to tell her because it was actually Stacey's.
The next 5 minutes after that were the most futile, useless, contempt moments of my life. I just sat there and pretended to care about what Lydia was going on about, quietly anticipating for Jose to come back.
Finally I sighted Jose in the distance trying to carry my shoes and two cups of hot chocolate. He held a smile on his face, and noticed I was sitting with Lydia, while I gave him an exasperated look.
Man, I wish she would just shut up! I looked back over to Jose who was giving Lydia a death glare. Something was wrong. Something was dead wrong.
