Louis POV
The next morning I woke up refreshed. Harry was thrashing around in sleep last night, but it clearly didn't bother me enough. It had been occurring for the past few nights, but I just assumed it was his stress from work.
I got up and got dressed and heard the shower on, and assumed that Harry was in there. I yelled to him.
"Harry? I'm going to make breakfast."
"Okay! Be out in a minute." I heard the shower click off and headed downstairs.
I cooked us some breakfast and waited for Harry to come downstairs. It had been almost 15 minutes, so I went up to check on him. The bathroom door was still closed, so I knocked gently, not wanting to scare him.
"Harry?" I walked in and Harry was sitting on the top of the toilet, staring off at the wall. "Harry?" I waved my hand in front of him and snapped a few times. He didn't budge. And then about a minute later he was on the floor, violently convulsing.
"Harry! Oh my god." I immediately recognized it as a seizure, as my old friend used to have them all the time. I turned him on his side and placed a towel under his head. I reached for my phone in my pocket as he continued to convulse. I called an ambulance.
"999 What is your emergency?"
"Please help. My husband is having a seizure. Please hurry."
"Sir try to remain calm. What is your address?"
I told the nice lady on the other line our address as she explained to me what to do. I told her that I dealt with seizures before and she understood.
I heard the ambulance pull up outside, as Harry seizure slowed down and eventually came to a stop. They called from downstairs.
"We are in the bathroom!" They came running in, a stretcher just outside the door.
"How long was the seizure?" The man asked as they rolled Harry on his back. He was still unconscious and had a weak pulse. They put oxygen on his face and started an IV and gave him some medication.
"I-I don't know. 2 or 3 minutes maybe. I-I'm s-sorry." I was crying at this point as they lifted him onto the stretcher and I grabbed my wallet and phone and followed them out.
"It's okay. We have to get him to the hospital now."
"Can I ride with him?"
"Yes, of course. Come on."
The ride to the hospital felt like hours. I just watched Harry who seemed to be at peace, but then started to shake once again. I hated seeing him like that. The man turned Harry on his side and he began to foam at the mouth. They pulled into the hospital and got Harry out immediately. They were met with doctors and nurses.
I followed them inside as they brought him to a room, still actively seizing. I was so scared, but a nurse stopped me from going in.
"No no no. I have to be with him. He doesn't like hospitals." I fought her grasp, but she was persistent. She grabbed me by my shoulders and looked me in the eyes.
"We have to let the doctors work. He is in good hands. Come with me." She took me to a private room where I just put my head in my hands. She offered a comforting touch on my thigh.
"Does he have any history of seizures?"
"No I don't think-" Then I remembered that he has been off for the past few days. "Well I don't think he's had them before, but he's been kind of off for the past few days. And then right before he started seizing he was just staring at the wall. He told me that he got caught 'daydreaming' at work but it lasted on and off for a few hours."
The nurse nodded, jotting a few things down on her clipboard. "Okay so it's possible that this isn't his first seizure. Have you noticed shuffling around while he sleeps?"
"Yeah actually I have. He thrashed around a bit while he slept. Could those be seizures?"
"We won't know without doing some tests, but it's possible yes."
"Gosh." I put my head in my hands again. "I should have said something. I knew he was off but I just thought it was from stress or from work. I didn't want-"
"Don't blame yourself-" She paused, like she was looking for a name.
"Louis."
"Louis. Don't blame yourself Louis. There is no way you could have known. Honestly this is more common than you think. I'm going to go talk to the doctors and try to get an update. Is there anyone you want me to call for you?"
"No it's okay. I'll text my friends and contact his mum. She lives quite far away, but I should let her know and it will probably be easier hearing it from me than from some stranger at the hospital."
"Okay. I'll be back. I'll let you know when your friends get here."
"Thanks"
I ended up falling asleep for about 20 minutes before there was a knock on the door. I stirred gently before I saw Liam thanking the nurse. He came over to me, placing a hand on my shoulder. I couldn't hold in my tears, so I just fell apart in his arms.
"Hey, it's okay. Tell me what happened." He hugged me tight before allowing me to explain everything.
"I haven't heard anything yet."
"I'm sorry Lou. We should hopefully hear something soon."
