the night before

hwanwoong put the seatbelt on and took one last glance at youngjo before starting the car. the sight of him sleeping peacefully brought a smile to hwanwoong's lips.

the car ride was quiet. once they arrived at youngjo's place, hwanwoong helped the sleepy and drunk male to get up from the passenger seat and tried his best to support the taller to make walking easier for him. hwanwoong sighed in relief when he found youngjo's keys in his crossover bag, both of them in front of his apartment now. once they were inside hwanwoong immediately brought youngjo to his bed, the taller groaning after falling into his mattress. hwanwoong took off his best friend's shoes and went to the kitchen after to get some medicine because he knew youngjo would have a headache from the hangover once he'd wake up. he placed the pill and a glass of water on the nightstand, hoping youngjo would not be in a too bad condition the next day. when hwanwoong was about to leave, he felt a soft grip on his wrist.

"thank you, woong." youngjo said, almost whispering. hwanwoong gave him a warm smile even though he couldn't see it since his eyes were closed. the younger moved closer to his best friend to gently brush his bangs out of his face. "of course."

once hwanwoong got back in his car, he tried his best to stay focused on the road. he really could not allow himself to freak out about what happened earlier while driving. it didn't take long until he arrived. he was about to get out of the car but stopped when something on the passenger seat caught his eyes. he chuckled at the sight of youngjo's cat ears, a blush crippling up his cheeks at the memory of what happened not even two hours ago. they must've fallen down when i helped him out of the car.

once he got into his apartment he closed the door behind him, his back leaning against it. he took in a deep breath, trying to get back to his senses. it still felt unreal to him, like a dream.

even after showering and laying in bed for more than 20 minutes he couldn't stop thinking about it. he had imagined this so many times, wondering how it would be to kiss youngjo. how his best friend's lips would feel against his own. he would lie if he said he never had the opportunity. actually, there have been plenty opportunities. hwanwoong was sure he felt some sort of tension between him and youngjo sometimes, he just never made a move because he knew youngjo was straight. he was also too scared to mess up their friendship. having youngjo as his best friend was better than nothing after all. but now? hwanwoong was madly confused. a sigh escaped his mouth as he shifted around in his bed a couple times to find a comfortable position. he pulled up his blanket to rest his cheek on it, a pout forming on his lips.

"why did you do that?" he said, followed by another sigh. i really need to talk to him about it. after some more minutes of thinking his eyes got heavier and he eventually fell asleep.

present

youngjo's face was expressionless and his hands were gripping the bedsheets. oh my god. when he tried to remember what happened back at the party and that memory came up in his head he immediately pushed it away, not wanting to believe that actually happened. he turned around to look for his phone. a little too fast though because a sharp pain hit his neck, causing him to wince in pain for a second. his phone was on the nightstand, next to a pill and a glass of water. he smiled at the sight in front of him, knowing that hwanwoong put them there. he downed the painkiller with the water that had collected some dust over night, cringing at the feeling. he slowly leaned back to the headboard and the memories started to fill his head again. his fingers unconsciously brushed over his lips as he was thinking back to what happened the night before, his face lighting up in a bright shade of red. he pushed the pillow that was laying next to him onto his face and let out a muffled scream. god, WHY?
