"This woman.... Saw that which I did not" Enkai grumbled. "Spilt that which has never been spilt before... My blood"

He sat by her bedside, staring down with caution. Once seeing the girls potential, the high elf had no other choice but to take her in.

Although where they rested was in a village just outside the forests, the wild was still the elves to claim. However many battles occured due to those forests, all between elves.

If the forest became sickly or began to Wilt, it belonged to the Dark Elves. If a forest was soiled with the blood of the evil, it belonged to the Blood Elves.

All that rich and in good health, belonged to the High Elves. This very forest which protected all, was ruled by them.

"That girl is a human... Isn't she?"

Enkai's attention was thrown behind him like a dart. He gave a relieving sigh once seeing who it was.

"Hakkai. What are you doing in here? You know it is not safe to enter without the mask"

The little elf ran his fingers through his hair and tucked it behind his pointed ears. He closed his eyes with a frown, and then opened them with a grin.

"She is not sick" Hakkai states. "The people of this village have no need to hide behind a mask. She will not bring forth germs"

"Hakkai..."

"You know this well" Hakkai told. "If not, you wouldn't have taken her in. You would not have brought her here if she were a threat"

Enkai sighs. "You are too wise for your own good, boy" he says, having Hakkai continue his smile.

Hakkai walked up to her, and caressed her right arm. "She's warm" he whispers, as his head nuzzles into her.

"We can keep her, right?"

Enkai's eyebrows lowered as he looked on. "Hakkai. Let her be" he instructed. Hakkai glanced up and grinned.

"Yes... Your highness-"

"I told you to never address me like that!" He snapped.

Hakkai smirked as he took his leave. "Of course. Forgive me... Enkai" he sneered.

"Why...?"

"Hm?"

The elf glanced down at the human girl, as she began to stir in her slumber. Kagome's heavy eyelids lifted and stared, piercing Enkai's crystal eyes with those of her own.

"Why did you save me?" She asked. Enkai kept a stiff face, without avoiding eye contact with her.

"You begged for me to keep you alive. I cannot turn a blind eye to that"

She smiled in such a way, that it brought warmth to Enkai's stoned heart. He smiled back at her and Kagome appeared speechless.

"You're smiling..." She said faintly.

Enkai placed his fingertips on the surface of his lips and felt around. "It appears so..." He whispers just as shocked.

"I like it... Quite charming"

The high elf with the strong pride, turned his blushing face away from her. He stood from the bedside stool and sighed.

"What do you prefer to feast upon?" He asked.

"Oh no, I'm not hungry" she tells him. Enkai raises a single eyebrow.

"If you are well enough to speak, then I shall assume you can eat?"
