You both packed your bags. The weekend came to an end under a strange atmosphere. Shared between the sadness of leaving this magnificent place which allowed you to forget your problems. The sweet and calm atmosphere between you and Dio. The fear of having to leave each other. The joy of seeing Jojo again. The excitement of seeing your brother's partner and seeing your new stepmother... Your feelings were everywhere and nowhere at the same time.
When you come in front of the Joestar mansion early in the morning, you both exchange one last glance. You could read in his eyes that you'll have to keep everything that happened during this weekend secret.
You just smiled at him and he took your hand. His big hand was warm and soft unlike yours which was shaking.
"That doesn't mean I'm done with you, darling." He said, placing a frank kiss on it before opening the carriage door. As a good gentleman, he let you take care of your enormous suitcase and took his before disappearing into the hall of the mansion, under the offended gaze of the butler. You knew he was relieved to come back, he will have to wear his mask of a wise respectful virgin man. Everything he wasn't. You noticed that he didn't greet anyone on the way home, probably in too much of a hurry to hide the wish book in some unlikely place.
You saw Jojo in the hall. Just by looking at her little angel's face, your morale rose again. He didn't allude to the discussion he wanted to have with you. Maybe to let you rest a little, before the two long days that awaited you to return to Switzerland.
You noticed that the atmosphere between the two young men no longer bothered to play hypocrites. No look, no greeting, no smile. You were sad to see that they were both exhausted from pretending. The blue haired man warned you that his father has the flu and you can't see him yet. The day passed calmly, although Dio seemed strange to you he didn't let anything show when Jojo was not far away. After your last British dinner here, you went to your room to clean up the mess and pack your suitcase for tomorrow.
As soon as you finished, someone knocked on your door.
You quickly looked at yourself in the mirror and panicked. Your hairstyle looked like a bird's nest struck by lightning, your dress was crumpled and to top it off, your period had left you a nice present on it.
"WAIT, PLEASE!" You said loudly.
You stopped undressing when you heard his voice saying take your time. The time has come for you to pull out the card of the stoic girl who will answer yes or no without saying more. His head popped up when you gave him permission to enter.
Too bad for the blood stain on your dress, you will wait until he leaves, to shower. You leaned against the wall smiling. "Hi, Jojo."
"Hi Y/N..."
He sat down on the tiny velvet chair that tried to support his weight.
"Thanks for giving me some time Y/N." He said, rubbing the back of his neck for a moment. "Uh..." He hesitated. "I really didn't want to bother you with that... you just came home I would like to let you rest..." He said standing up.
You were confused but it was obvious that you wanted to know more.
"It's okay Jojo don't worry you're not bothering me!"
He hesitated again but finally sat and thought for a moment, then put his face in his hands.
"Okay. But tell me the truth." he mumbled into his hands.
"And just the truth." You said, hand on heart.
He smiled slightly and straightened up to take a breath of air.
"Did you tell a friend about the stone mask?" He asked you.
Your face showed him no confusion, no surprise or even anger. Well yes, you weren't expecting that question but you tried not to let it show. After all, it was the truth.
"No" you answered simply.
"Are you sure?" He insisted.
"Yes"
He said nothing more and watched his fingers play together. The conversation was no more than an awkward silence between you.
You cleared your throat to make him say something. He understood and looked towards you.
"When you were at your house, a butler surprised a woman in the hallway. Apparently she walked in without knocking. When he saw her, she was staring at the mask with... a very interested eye. He asked her to leave or he was going to call the police. She ran for the exit. Without saying a word." He said, his gaze lost. "I didn't see it, my dad told me about it after the butler warned him. So I just wanted to ask you if-"
"I told you I haven't told anyone about it, Jojo. I don't even have any friends besides you, Erina and Dio, here. And, you kindly gave me permission to study it. You know what's the rule in archeology and in friendship..." You cut him off.
"I'm just asking if you talked or let anyone in... I don't suspect you Y/N! You know... People can... sometimes be bad without you being able to suspect anything..." He said.
You chuckled silently at his reaction. "You distrust people now?" You said ironically.
The features of his face calmed down.
"Maybe... thanks to my deeear brother." He said with a slight smile.
