Author's POV:
An African American man named Chadwick was driving an all black Dodge Charger; during a rain storm. After driving through a series of winding road, he noticed the hood of the car began to release smoke. He quickly pulled over to the side of the road.

In fear that the engine was on fire, he quickly lifted the hood up and hollered in pain; as the heat from the hood burned his hands. Looking down the road, he saw a few house lights. He left the car and walked to the nearest neighborhood. The rain showered him with every step he took.

When Chadwick arrived to a neighborhood, he noticed how quiet and structured the streets and houses were. He went to two homes and asked for assistance. But Chadwick didn't get a response from the homeowners. He disappointingly walked off their porches.

Chadwick approached a third house and braced himself to be rejected once again. He knocked and wiped the water from his face. The door slightly opened to reveal a light skinned woman named Zola; peeking out the other side.

"Can I help you?"
"My car broke down a few miles back. And I was wondering if I could use your phone?" Chadwick asked as water dripped down his face.
"You don't have a cell phone?" Zola asked.

Chadwick quickly dropped his head and uncomfortably laughed. He raised his head back up and replied,

"I do. But the battery is dead. That's why I asked to use yours."

Zola slowly started to close the door on Chadwick.

"I understand if you don't want to help me. You don't know me at all. I get it. I just thought I should ask since I'm alone. And your neighbors ignored my knocks. Have a goodnight." Chadwick said and walked down the stairs.

Zola started to feel bad for him.

"What's your name?" Zola yelled.

Chadwick stopped, turned his head towards her and answered,

"Chadwick Boseman."
"I'm Zola. Come in."
"Thank you so much." Chadwick replied in relief and walked inside.
"Wait here. I'll be right back." Zola said and quickly ran upstairs.

As Chadwick stood three feet from the front door, he looked around and noticed the warm feel of the living room. Zola returned with a robe and trash bag.
