Later, At The Park

"Do you usually come here often, Kageyama? Seems like you're familiar with it," I said to him as we waited in line for ice cream. I had my coat on, because it got cold fast. I usually didn't mind the cold...buttt it was a great opportunity to show off my new jean jacket! I looked like one of those modern models, at least the mirror made it seem like that.

"Hm? Oh no, not really. Used to come here as a kid, that's all." He replied. Although he said that, I don't think it's true. Seems like a really calming environment for him. I mean, it's not surprising that he could lie about this stuff. He likes to keep a tough-guy act, after all...

As we walked up to the line, I saw couples walking by. There was such a pretty sunset, and it was perfect time and setting for some cliche romance novel. Man, I wish I was courageous enough to find someone who would genuinely like a date that's similar to that.

Walking up to the front of the line was tough; which flavor did I want? Strawberry or banana? Oh god, this is too hard. I don't think any choice has been as stressful as this, in my life.

"I'll get strawberry, on a cone.." He said to the salesman. Man, how rude! He didn't even say please. How can you not say please? Like, any normal person just says it automatically!

The salesman looked to me, "And you?" he asked in a polite tone. How did he know I was going to order? Wow, this author's logic is craz-

"Uhm, I'll have the same, please," I responded. If Kageyama likes strawberry, it's gotta be good. Actually, scratch that. He has horrible taste and I know it.

The salesman handed Kageyama the two ice cream cones, and smiled. What a nice dude! I'll never forgive Kageyama for not saying please!

As I pulled out my wallet, Kageyama said, "Oh no, I-I'll pay. You don't have to worry about that." he blushed a bit. Something is hella strange, he would never do that.

"Uh, I think I'm fine, it's just 6 dollars.." I said back, in a confused tone. C'mon dude! Get the point! I don't like having to owe people something!

" Yeah, it's just 6 dollars...Exactly why I can pay for it-" He responded, as he put emphasis on different words.

"........................."

Before he could say anything else, I pulled out my 6 dollars quickly, trying to count each bill. I knew he couldn't do anything because he was holding the ice creams. Hehe, good job (Y/N), I thought to myself!

As soon as the salesman counted the money I gave him, we walked out of line to eat the ice cream. I could feel Kageyama staring down my soul- why is he sooo mad!

"What the hell, (L/N)! Are you stupid? I was going to pay for the ice cream!" He told me with an attitude.

"Jeez, you don't have to be so mad about it. It's not even that serious- like, what?" I responded with my arms crossed and looking up. I looked quite petty, but to be honest I don't really mind his behavior, I just like pissing him off.

"Yeah, duh! I get that but I was going to pay for it! Why'd ya have to chip in! Oh my god, do you not understand treats or gifts?!?"

Before I could say anything, I started laughing. Come to think of it, this is funny as hell. I clamped my hands around my face, with a huge smile that nobody could see. Pffffff, who even gets mad at that! Bahaha, I guess Kageyama would be the first! I put my hands on my knees, I can't control myself. I don't think I've ever had such a good laugh in a while.

"Pffff..baha-"

"The hell are you laughing at you- you-" before I could see him come up with one of his stupid comebacks, he looked like he was holding back laugh himself. "Aha, well, I mean- yeah....Pffft, I guess you're right, (Y/N)." He said as we switched to a calmer tone. This dude is the CEO of changing his attitude.

"Hey, it looks like it's getting late," I said, controlling myself. I didn't even notice how late it was, I was actually having fun spending time here. I'm kinda glad we met back up, I mean, we were really good friends in middle school...

"Oh. Yea. " He looked at his phone. His face was.. almost, disappointed yet no expression. Awwwww, that's kinda cute. Wait, no. "Do you need me to walk you home?" He added, looking up from the bright phone screen.

"Oh, I'm fine, aha. But this was really fun! Hope we can do something like this again sometime!"

I turned around and started heading back, plugging in my earbuds. Nothing's better than some music on an evening walk! As I was putting my playlist on shuffle, I looked up again to the sunset. It was a mix of orange, pink, purple, blue- I couldn't get my mind off it. Usually after school I was stuck in my bedroom doing whatever. But I think moving to this school had some highs, like being close enough to walk to. Maybe...Maybe I might like it here. Maybe me and Kageyama could get along, huh.
