About a week and a half later, and all the stuff going on in (Y/N)'s head has passed. Of course it did, because as they said, it's just some joke...right?
"Yeahh, can't wait!" I texted one of my teamates. Our practices have been cancelled for a while due to the fields being under construction, but today we're finally coming back! Ahhh, can't wait to get back to my normal schedules.
As soon as I looked up from my phone, I saw Yuna walking up to me. "Suuup, (Y/N) , whatcha doin?" she said with a smug tone, as usual.
"Ahhh, nothing. Just texting someone. Aha..."
"Hm. Anyways, I was wondering if you were going to do anything after school? Me and Saito are going to the bowling alley after school!"
I had around 2 hours before my own practice starts, but....I'm pretty sure I have homework 'n stuff to do. Hm, I don't really feel like it either....
"Damn, I got soccer training today. Hm, that sucks..Sorry Yuna.."
"Oh, no problem haha! Maybe some other time then!" She said, still smiling.
She probably knows, so....Thanks, Yuna.
"Baha..Anyways-" she continued chatting. As time went on, I progressed to the end of the day.
Man, feels great to be done with school. I walked outside and heading to the exit of the campus. But, I just felt genuinely happier today. Perhaps, I just can't stop thinking about my team, it's gonna be so much fun back in our field again and~
I stopped in my tracks as I looked down at the ground. It crouched down to see a small slip slightly dusty. As I picked it up, I could see numbers and signatures. This might be old, who cares I thought. I was just about to walk over to the trash can when I flipped around to see the other side.
Tobio Kageyama I read. Oh, he must have dropped it. Then, what alerted me was that the due date was tomorrow's date. Oh, jeez. Guess I better return this to him, huh....
I looked over to the students walking by, and looked around. Luckily, I caught my friend Yuna walking by.
"Hey, uh, Yuna? Sorry to bother to you, but do you know where the volleyball courts are? I uh.. gotta return something." I asked as I rushed over to her.
"Oh yeah. Just go back and take a left, they're the same ones you went to on the first day, remember?"
"Ahh, yeah. Thanks Yuna!" I said as I waved and rushed to the place she told me to go.
Okay, so just go in and outt....Can't be that hard, right?
I finally got to the courts and saw a couple of other students in there, doing homework or just watching the teams. I walked up to the door in front of me, but before I did anything I looked through the window to make sure they were there. Of course, I saw a couple of teammates inside, doing whatever. I could hear a lot of squeaks against the floors, as well as names being called out.
I opened the door, to a magnificent sight. As the small ginger hair leaped in the air, the ball came flew to him. Before i knew it, he had slammed it to the other side of the net. It was so fast, I could miss it in a blink. I couldn't help but stand there, amazed. As I was looking around, I saw Kageyama, standing in the middle of their side. Was he actually apart of that move?
He saw me, and as the other players walked to the sides for a water break, he ran over to me.
"Woah! That was- that was awesome! Wow- I can't believe I saw that!" I said in shock, as I said it to him.
"Well, um yeah..." he said proudly to me. "But, uh, what are you here for?"
"Ohhh, yeah. You dropped this slip, and it's lucky I found it since the due date says tomorrow."
"Really? I didn't realized I dropped it, thanks." He said in relief.
"Ah, no problem." I said while I turned around to leave.
" Ohhh- uh- (L/N). While you're here, do you wanna watch us practice a bit?"
I'd like to..I really would. But, that would disrespect Yuna. Besides, I rather not bother them, huh...
"Wouldn't that bother your team, though?" I asked, a bit concerned.
"Nah, there are plenty of people watching us, or just doing things here. You won't stand out." he said as he shrugged.
"Ah, sounds good. I can only stay for a bit, though, yknow. I got my own team to worry about."
"Cool." he replied.
Before I could say anything else, I heard a voice say "Kageyama!" as he ran over to the team.
I found a place to to sit down, kinda close to where some other students were. I pulled out my math book to multi-task. And also, to not look awkward. I couldn't help but stare though, the drills they did were impressive. I didn't know how good Kageyama was until know. Just, wow!
As I was mesmerized gazing across the room, I noticed the time. It wasn't too late, but I better start heading back. I heard drizzling through the walls outside, so that was gonna be a pain. Good thing I brought an umbrella, for the weather predictions on the news.
I waited for the next water break to tell Kageyama I had to leave. As I saw him walking to his bag, I got myself up and walked over.
"Great job out there, I liked watching you. Anyways, cya!" I said as I turned around without looking back.
I opened up the doors to see that it was raining a just a bit, so I opened up my umbrella. As I walked down, in the distance I saw somebody familiar.
"Uh, Sara? That you?" I shouted to them in the distance. Oh, silly me. I forgot she was gonna walk with me to the field. It's a good thing I saw her as she was walking by the school, huh.
"Mhm, you bet (Y/N)! You have all your stuff together?" She said, seeming excited.
"Yup, wait for me!" I said, about to run over to her.
Suddenly, I heard footsteps behind me, like someone was going to follow me. Weird, school is over already. Could it be a janitor, or another teamate?
"Hey...uh, (L/N). Do you mind waiting a sec?" The voice said. Before I turned around, I could tell who it was.
I turned my body to see Kageyama, standing still holding a black umbrella above his head. His facial expression was a bit off....he was looking at me sorta surpised, or perhaps nervous...? That's pretty stange. It was totally different a minuet ago.
"(Y/N)? What's going on? Should I wait a sec?" Sara said, trying to get my attention from afar.
"Hm? What's up? Don't you have to go back for practice?" I said in confusion, putting my hands in my pockets.
"Well..I-I uhm, told them I needed to do something real quick. Thing is, I wanted to tell you something." He said looking down to the floor. Based on his general emotions, this was weird. I could tell something was up. Only makes me want to hear what he has to tell me, hm.
"Mhm, go on." I said confidently.
"See, I wanted to tell you since- you know what- I-.......(Y/N)....I..." He said, unable to form sentence.
My first name? Wow, this must be serious. I don't know if I wanna hear this. Is it good or-
"I.....I just- can't say it." he said, flustered up.
I sighed. I know what he's going to say, don't I? I can tell what's going to happen, huh. Thing is, do I want to hear it....What if I do? What if that small phenomena a week ago was...true? I just want to hear him say it.
"(Y/N), I love you."
