Dream
--
My lungs burned as I fled into the woods, leaving an injured Techno and the two bodies of my friends behind. There was no telling how long he'd be out for, but I did hit him pretty damn hard with that rock. However, it wasn't in my best interest to stick around until that pig woke up.
Tears I didn't even realize were there pricked at the corners of my eyes, and I sniffled at the thought my friends would never run alongside me ever again.
I ran until my legs gave out, which sent me stumbling down a steep hill, trying desperately to grab the roots that jutted out of the dirt. My body was thrown around like a ragdoll, and it was all I could do to hope I hadn't broken any bones as I lay defeated in a measly trench. This is more than far enough, he'd never follow me this far...
It was certainly cowardly, I will admit, but there was a monster inside of that man I didn't want to meet.

It was about an hour before I regained my senses. Brought back to life by the sounds of the forest and a nearby stream, I evaluated myself, checking my joints and feeling for any major bruises. There was a scratch on my face, and my mask had split in half- not to mention the searing headache and stiff joints- But those were a whole lot better than broken or fractured bones.
With a pang of guilt, I pulled myself from the ditch. I felt deep remorse for the lives that had been lost earlier that day at the hands of that cretin, wishing I was there to put a stop to his crimes before they had even been committed.
I stumbled to the edge of the stream I'd been hearing for a bit, hoping to wash off at least some of the dirt and that was caked under my fingernails and in my hair. Nearing the stream, I half-expected to see the figure of Techno behind me, but I only saw my ragged, dirty-looking expression staring back at me through those emerald green eyes. I got to work getting the dirt off of me, occasionally lapping the water out of my hands like a desperate, lost kitten.
It was long past noon by the time I had finished, seeing as the sun was further West than it was East. Standing up, I decided to follow the water upstream, just so it was easier not to get lost. There was no point in going back to my camp at this time, as I was unarmed and had no idea what could be waiting there for me. I made a vow to give my friends a proper sendoff, though. The daylight was fleeting fast, threatening to take the only chance of heat and guidance I had left. It was hopeless to continue following the river all night, so I turned around and follow it back a bit, remembering a nice clearing I had seen on my journey here. It was backtracking, yes, but it did put me in an easier place to get back to my camp.
It took about a fifteen-minute walk to put me back at the location I had in mind. The air got increasingly colder as it whipped against my back. A feeling of dread came over me as the dark silhouettes of stormclouds started to blow in, the certainty of future rain. I shivered at the thought.
Figuring I needed at least a little bit of shelter to protect myself, I found a nice spot under some low-hanging branches at the edge of the woods.
It was cold, but I made it work, not wanting to be ungrateful for the little that I had at that moment. And after curling into a tight little ball, I drifted off into a broken sleep.
-~-
I woke up a little after noon, grateful for the amount of sleep I had gotten- even if it was broken, it was better than nothing. I groggily pulled myself out of the forest, feeling a burst of strength as I pondered the thought of returning to my camp. There was no easier way to get there than following the winding stream further down, retracing the route I had taken the day before. I desperately wanted to see the faces of Sapnap and George again, no matter how mangled and charred they may've been.
Approaching the edge of the stream, I almost collapsed when I saw that the water ran red.
-(a.n. sorry for the shorter chapter </3)
